The collection of wood produces the phenomenon of smoke, which is not different in kind; smoke also depends on the collection of fire and wood, which is not different in kind. The nature of things exists in this way, so it is reasonable for something to arise from something. Action and karma are the karma of mind and the karma of body. Attainment is the appearance of these things arising merely in name from their combination, coordination, and gathering. When reciting the scripture "Where there is cause," it is related to the cause, and it is easy to understand the meaning of the words. For the aggregates, it refers to the previous aggregates with defilements, and nirvana is impossible, which is an unprecedented difference. Here, showing samsara and nirvana as one is in terms of the nature of nirvana, and there is no fault. Saying that all dharmas are inexpressible is because it is said that "all these are merely names" and one hundred and eight sentences, etc. If one clings to everything as expressible objects, or clings to the expression itself as the nature of what is expressed, then that is the nature of the completely imputed, so it is emptiness. Empty of all views and habitual tendencies of faults, that is, empty of the view of the collection of destructibles, etc., and other than that, the habitual tendencies of the two obscurations, empty of sudden stains, even in name. Or, one is empty of the other, that is, empty in the way of being each other's nature or as a support, which is easy to understand. This emptiness is the most inferior of all, and you should completely abandon it. The meaning of this sentence is that although such emptiness is understood and accustomed to by all ordinary people, it cannot abandon all aspects of affliction, nor can it benefit the attainment of things that are useful to people, so there is no need to determine such emptiness. If so, then the impossible emptiness is also the four emptinesses desired by the outsiders, namely, saying that there was none before, none after destruction, one without the other, and completely none. The difference of having none before is a trivial emptiness, and there is no need to determine such emptiness either. If you say that, there is no fault, because the difference of this trivial emptiness has been shown.

Because they pity those childish beings who, regarding the contaminated aggregates with outflows, think there is no happiness in Nirvana's peace and cessation, they become disgusted and renounce it, thereby entering the path of Nirvana, and so on. Furthermore, they must abandon the inverted clinging to Nirvana as a permanent, enduring entity that has always existed. If some inverted philosophical schools also posit forms and other phenomena as the nature of a single lord, or invertedly cling to them as being one in terms of generality, is it not so? Then, by revealing that these things are mutually empty, is there a need to eliminate such inversions? It is not so, because they also merely realize the meaning of the emptiness of the states of forms and so on, and the distinctions of what is to be eliminated, in relation to each other. Furthermore, realizing emptiness in this way and not realizing it and clinging to oneness are the same as the cause of bondage, so there is no intention whatsoever in preventing clinging to oneness and revealing separate entities. Furthermore, the words "great wisdom" and so on do not merely indicate its synonyms, but their meaning is that the consciousnesses that enter during the samadhi of stopping the state of concentration and so on do not arise even conventionally, and in other states, consciousness and wisdom do not arise spontaneously without cause in the ultimate sense. Moreover, what is included by the word "also" does not arise from self, other, or both, and in the conventional sense, it arises like an illusion due to other causes and conditions, so it is not non-arising either. Therefore, the meaning of non-arising is only the union of two truths, like an illusion. The reason for saying "therefore" is that the meaning of union is such, referring to non-arising in the ultimate sense and so on, thereby revealing that all phenomena are without inherent existence. The reason for being without inherent existence in the ultimate sense is that the continuum of momentary dependence is the arrangement of moments, so there is nothing apart from the moment of arrangement, and as previously stated, the single moment does not exist either. Moreover, as for phenomena dependent on others, because they appear to change, it is said that all dharmas are without inherent existence, here is the meaning of pervasive.
