They say it changes, and so on. The Samkhyas say that existence arises. Once things arise, they exist for a certain period. The destruction of things also has two causes: the destruction of the assembled cause and the destruction of the unassembled cause. Among them, the destruction of the assembled cause means that, for example, because the weaving tool is broken, the cloth is broken. The destruction of the unassembled cause means that, for example, because the cause of gathering the threads together is broken, the cloth is broken. The Samkhya view is that if a dharma exists in some way, other dharmas will disappear and other dharmas will arise. What does not exist does not arise, and what does not exist does not cease. The Naiyayikas, and those who say there is difference and no difference, some of them think that some are thinking and some are not thinking, and that causeless existence is constant. If something has no cause and has not arisen, then it cannot be existent, like a rabbit's horn. Its fruit cannot exist at other times either. If it is the nature of existence, why does it not exist at all times? Or, if it has the nature of existence, then it will be destroyed by its own power, and will not exist at other times. The liberation of the Sutrantikas is like the extinguishing of a lamp, liberated from the bonds of the noble truths, and the five aggregates are cut off. Complete destruction and cessation mean the cessation of the momentary continuum. The Sutrantikas also believe that it will be destroyed, as it says in the Mahaprajnaparamita Sutra: Those of great wisdom will think that the continuum, action, birth, existence, nirvana, path, karma, fruit, and truth will be completely destroyed and cut off, because there is no meaningful activity. For existing things, there is no manifestation, because there is no external object. The Sutrantikas and the Naiyayikas and other schools believe that the thing that produces the fruit is produced by its continuum. The heretics believe that through the blessing of the eternal Ishvara, the self and the mind are completely combined, thereby generating knowledge. Similarly, because the self, the root, the mind, and the object are separated, wisdom is cut off. For the wisdom that exists in the continuum, if complete defilement and complete purification are established, then they will become eternalists and annihilationists.

Any pervasive afflictions and pure liberation cannot be established. Why is that? Because these cannot be directly perceived, as the beginning and end are not seen. Great wisdom is like this: a shard of pottery cannot perform the function of a pottery jar. A burnt seed also cannot perform the function of a sprout. Although the emptiness of the beginning and end is understood when the consciousnesses of the eye, etc., arise and immediately perish, the alaya-consciousness possesses the nature of lineage, and the body and enjoyment appear as places. The alaya is the universal arising; the eight and nine consciousnesses are the same, like ocean waves. Everything abides in the nature of continuity. Even in dreams, the heretics who examine the objects of grasping and the grasped do not understand it in this way. Because they do not understand it in this way, they constantly conceive of a permanent, singular, and conscious self as the knower of external objects, because they do not understand the appearance of their own mind. The Niyayikas, who do not directly perceive with the consciousnesses of the eye, etc., and the distinguished ones, completely conceive the beginning and end of the fruits as emptiness. For example, pots and seeds, etc., become shards, etc., and the previous and final states of pots, etc., cannot generate the needs of honey and clouds, etc. Therefore, they do not exist previously, and when they are destroyed, pots, etc., do not exist. However, at the time of the beginning and the end, if things exist, why do they not perform their own function? Since those that exist on top of it have no function, how can existence arise? The Samkhyas say: If non-existence were to arise, why would oil not come from sand? Why would non-existent things such as turtle hair, rabbit horns, and sky lotuses not arise? Thus, Shapanaka and practitioners think of speaking of existence, non-existence, and both, just as they have courage. As the materialists say, the statement of earth, water, fire, and wind is not correct, because consciousness with sentience arises from these, and they believe in it.
