Commentary on the Holy Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra by Yeshe Pal Zangpo. Commentary on the Holy Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra By Yeshe Pal Zangpo. In Indian language: Ārya Laṃkāvatāra Vṛtti. In Tibetan: Commentary on the Holy Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! The omniscient Buddha is the same as the lord of speech who transforms, The two Bodhisattvas and the supreme Dharma of the two non-humans, All gatherings are the essential path of the three vehicles. Having paid homage, in the name of Yeshe Pal Zang,, To benefit sentient beings with faith, According to my intelligence and the intelligence of others, The way of hearing the Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra and the Dharma, And explaining it with reason. Thus I have heard, at one time, the Bhagavan was dwelling in the city of Laṅkā, on the peak of Mount Malaya, adorned with various kinds of precious flowers. And so forth, these words are those of the authorities who perfectly summarize the words. The venerable Chief Mañjuśrī, in each of the first and last places, together with the chief Bodhisattvas from the ten directions of the world, gathered together, and it is said that they perfectly summarized the Mahāyāna teachings in seven communities. Because he dwelt in the city of Laṅkā in order to subdue yakṣas and rākṣasas and so forth, this sūtra is called the Laṅkāvatāra Sūtra. It was also taught in Yakṣa Shingdul and so forth. It is recited in order to make the yakṣas completely believe. And so on. Those yakṣas who had served the Buddhas of the past, with merit as a great limb, having obtained the liberation of illusion, having been victorious in three places, having the power to transform into various forms as they wished, holding bodies as they pleased, and giving away jewels and so forth, are the lords of the eight and so forth. In order to make the rest realize, he teaches them the profound Dharma. Calling companions also obtained the samādhi of formlessness. This sūtra itself states that, having abandoned the body, he dwells in the bīvaṅ with the head of Indra Nīla, the Bhagavan had Śāradza and others play the bīvaṅ. Similarly, the yogic masters of transforming into various forms.

If one possesses arrogance and has attained the samadhi of non-perception, how can one be defeated by being transformed into a great powerful joyful one? Bodhisattvas are those who subdue difficult-to-tame beings, such as the noble Vajradhara, the chief of lords, and others. The forms of Yaksha lords and others are victorious in the three realms, and by trampling the great Ishvara and his consort with their feet, they also attain dharanis and liberation, thus benefiting beings and causing them to ripen. This is inconceivable. The conduct of Bodhisattvas is inconceivable, and the enlightenment of the Buddhas is also inconceivable. As it is said in the tantra of the noble Manjushri, the "Kalpa of the Wrathful Victorious One," Manjushri Kumara spoke of the kalpa, and in order to tame the gods and others who are to be tamed, and to accomplish the goddesses and others, the Bhagavan, the noble Vajradhara, said, "I shall speak." He spoke of the distinctions of perfect accomplishment, and as asked by the noble Shantideva, "In the teachings of great compassion, why do you, Vajrapani, speak such fierce and desirous words?" The answer of the noble Vajradhara is as previously stated, that "causing beings to ripen is immeasurable," and so forth. Calling out and associating with compassion is also the same, because subduing beings and the investigation of Bodhi are inconceivable. As it is said in the Bodhisattva Pitaka, abiding in the heart of compassion, even if one has entered the path of creating the ten non-virtuous actions, merit will increase greatly, and there will be no falling. It is said in the Compendium of Sutras: If one commits a great sin of the ten non-virtuous actions, but on the next day or at noon practices the faultless Bodhicitta, the sins will be eliminated. The great gods, retinues, Brahma, and others, also become pure Bodhisattvas through the Vajra empowerment. They all have the desire to accomplish Buddhahood. Therefore, these words are not contradictory to the Yogic masters. Enjoying various pleasures with consorts in future lives is wisdom and
