It is entered in order to attain the state of Buddhahood. Thus, it becomes all-pervasive. This is the examination of the Perfection of Wisdom. The commentary on the Holy Lankavatara Sutra, composed by Yeshe Pal Zangpo, is the sixth chapter, the fifth examination of the grounds and perfections. Then, again, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Mahamati said this to the Blessed One: "Beings are of the nature of not completely passing beyond sorrow." Why is it that the Blessed One prophesies that the Arhats will become Tathagatas in unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment? Because all sentient beings have the essence of the Tathagata, those who are free from desire will undoubtedly become Buddhas. The All-Knowing One will also speak with the intention of dispelling the desire of the Bodhisattvas to completely pass beyond sorrow, so he prophesies to the Shravakas that they will become Tathagatas. From the night that the Tathagata manifestly and completely awakened to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment until the night that he completely passed beyond sorrow, the Blessed One did not speak a single letter or utter a single word. Considering this, the All-Knowing One said that just as the Buddhas of the past taught the Dharma, so too I only teach that Dharma, and there is nothing that was not there before. The Tathagatas are always in meditative equipoise, and without thought or deliberation, they emanate apparitions, and through these apparitions, they accomplish the deeds of the Tathagatas, and the consciousnesses are also described as being of different natures from one moment to the next. Vajrapani also always follows as an attendant, not clinging to the ultimate beginning, but clinging to liberation from suffering. If there are maras and the deeds of maras, and the causes of karma, and the Brahmin girl Chincha, and the beautiful wanderer, and the washing of the begging bowl, and so forth, obscurations of karma, then how does the Blessed One, without abandoning faults, attain omniscience?

Those views that contradict each other, the All-Knowing One has said to have abandoned, as declared by the Blessed One. Great Wisdom, therefore, the words "profoundly deep," etc., are also for the sake of considering the realm of the remaining aggregates without exception, and also for the sake of greatly rejoicing in the practices performed by Bodhisattvas. Great Wisdom, in this Buddha-field and in others, the practices performed by Bodhisattvas, those who desire to completely pass into nirvana through the Hearer's Vehicle exist; in order to turn them away from desiring the Hearer's Vehicle, and in order to greatly rejoice in the Great Vehicle, the emanated Hearers are prophesied by emanated bodies, but not by the Buddhas of Dharma-nature. Great Wisdom, considering this, the Hearers are prophesied. Great Wisdom, because liberation is of one flavor, Hearers, Solitary Realizers, and Buddhas, the abandonment of the obscurations of afflictions is without distinction, but it refers to abandoning afflictions such as attachment arising from the inversions of permanence, self, bliss, and purity by meditating on impermanence, suffering, and impurity. Realizing the Four Noble Truths is also without distinction in the three enlightenments. By fully understanding the selflessness of the individual, afflictions are abandoned. By fully understanding the selflessness of phenomena, the obscuration of knowledge is abandoned. Moreover, the obscuration of afflictions is also abandoned together with the habitual tendencies of non-equanimity, and then it becomes the omniscience of the Thus-Gone Ones alone. What the Blessed One accomplished is not the abandonment of the obscuration of knowledge. Great Wisdom, the obscuration of knowledge is purified by the distinction of seeing the selflessness of phenomena. The obscuration of afflictions is abandoned by taking the meditation on the selflessness of the individual as a preliminary in order to reverse the consciousness of the mind. The liberation from the obscuration of phenomena is purified in order to reverse the habitual tendencies of the all-ground consciousness. Considering the previous Dharma-body, since there is no previous and subsequent, it does not arise, therefore the letters previously spoken themselves...
