It is separating by covering. Between the meditations is another aspect of mind. Having conceptualization and having investigation is the first dhyana. Not having conceptualization and investigation is the second dhyana. Having joy and not having joy are the third and fourth dhyanas. What is called the distinct appearance of non-expression is connected to the form and formless realms. In the form realm, from the second dhyana onwards, there is no expression. In the formless realm, wherever there is no consciousness, there is also no expression. Dhyana is the distinction. Cognition with a single characteristic is only conceptualization, and this distinction is due to the distinction of causes. When yogis meditate on the path of yoga, if each individually perceives the distinction of the nature of self-awareness, then those who enter into the continuous stream of moments, although their own nature is not different, when practicing yoga, there are two types: with appearance and without appearance. If they abide in non-dual samadhi, then there is a difference between them. Why is there no difference between dharma and non-dharma arising from their respective conceptualizations? There is. The difference between dharma and non-dharma is due to the two aspects, just as appearances such as form and sound are perceived. After considering this, the All-Knowing One said to the lord of Lanka, "There is a difference between dharma and non-dharma." Therefore, the All-Knowing One spoke of the distinction of causes, because of the nature of conceptualization. Why? Because there are things of cause and effect that can be understood through conceptualization, so it becomes like this. Therefore, it is established by the conceptualization of consciousness. Whatever is one's own nature is non-dual. There, past, future, and present knowers and knowable things have no distinction of appearance in conceptualization. Therefore, one's own awareness has no effect on oneself, and if the mind does not operate on its own nature, what need is there to mention letters and sounds? This is the ultimate truth of non-dual conceptualization. Having conceptualization and not having conceptualization

The consciousness that has a function is also present in ordinary people and yogis. The consciousness of the eye, etc., for the two aspects that appear as fire and smoke, etc., only appear separately when they first appear, because they do not conceptualize the implicit understanding of imputation, so there is no name. Although the sense consciousness that has definitely entered is its own awareness, it is non-conceptual. Therefore, for ordinary people and yogis, there is a great difference in understanding. Although the wisdom of the Buddhas is non-dual, from the distinction of understanding, it will distinguish between Dharma and non-Dharma. Those who speak of Brahma and Ishvara, etc., their understanding has no difference, so they do not distinguish between Dharma and non-Dharma, which will lead to the fault that liberation and non-liberation, wealth and poverty, etc., become the same. For non-dualistic heretics, it is permissible to refute them with debate, because the consciousness of the Buddhas will become differentiated between Dharma and non-Dharma due to the control of self and other and the power of the difference of conditions. King of Lanka, what is Dharma? For example, what is distinguished by the conceptual mind of heretics, Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and ordinary people, establishing the basis of merit and entity from the cause, is called Dharma. These are to be abandoned, to be relinquished, do not separately examine their nature, because it is not in the nature of the Dharma that appears in one's own mind. Therefore, the All-Knowing One spoke of the different distinctions of Dharma and non-Dharma and abandonment. How do heretics, etc., conceptualize that the substance of atoms has limbs, similarly, qualities, actions, universals, relationships, etc., are also separately considered to be Dharma and Dharmas, which should be abandoned. How is that? When form is analyzed into atoms, atoms have no parts. It is said. Then, if the external object that is observed in this way does not exist, what appears? The All-Knowing One replied that it is not in the Dharma that appears in one's own mind. Dharma is what appears in one's own mind, such as dizziness, images, etc.
