Falling into characteristics by... Even without an external object, due to the power of internal disturbance, one experiences dizziness, fainting, and so on, which are various kinds of appearances. When does one fall into the absence of characteristics? "When form is analyzed into particles, particles have no parts." Thus, when analyzed with wisdom, at the time when one does not fixate on characteristics, there is no thought, no appearance, and one abides in the true nature of the ultimate truth, which is non-dual. As for falling into existence and non-existence, "existence" and "non-existence" are different terms used by children for the dualistic consciousness, but in the wisdom of the non-dual ultimate truth, there is no separate appearance of thoughts about things and non-things. The dualistic consciousness is also caused by other powers. What is called "born from the cause of various characteristics" means that defilement is the cause that has various characteristics and signs. Wherever such various forms exist, it is called that. Whatever is diverse is born from diverse causes, just like a picture drawn with many colors. In samsara, when distinguishing between happiness and suffering, etc., consciousness is diverse. Therefore, it should be understood that it is born from the causes of various actions of beings. What is called "the nature that completely transcends characteristics and the absence of characteristics is wisdom" means that the nature that transcends the characteristics of discriminating thoughts about things and non-things, etc., is wisdom. Without thought or appearance, truly realizing the non-dual ultimate truth, because it transcends all characteristics, it exists where there is no appearance of discriminating thoughts that appear separately as existence, non-existence, permanence, impermanence, happiness, suffering, self, non-self, beauty, ugliness, and so on. The pure omniscient wisdom, from everything that has worldly appearances, such various appearances appear separately. The nature of etc. is consciousness, which is various kinds of appearances. When analyzing characteristics with wisdom, analyzing gross and subtle, when not fixating on characteristics, writing.

For the nature of being without thought and without appearance, in the ultimate truth, the two are inseparable, and one abides in the correct knowledge. Therein, wisdom has three aspects, namely, that which truly understands the self-characteristic and the common characteristic. Therein, the self-characteristic is the uncommon. The common is universally compliant and is the expression of discriminating thought. Understanding the self-characteristic and the common characteristic, this is the knowledge of terms, and one should widely understand the nature of sound and meaning, as well as other manifest things. Understanding birth and destruction, this is the momentary consciousness, just like the consciousness of the sound of a cymbal, understanding that which is separated from the order of the beginning and the end of time, is momentary. Understanding the unborn and the unceasing, this is the view of the distinguished ones and the predictors, for momentary things, in the time of the beginning, middle, and end, the phenomena such as birth, abiding, and cessation are all universally observed, that is, the relationship between the agent, the action, and the manifestation, there is no particular attachment. "All conditioned things are momentary, where is there permanence? The one who is born is the one who perishes, and the agent is also the same." This is to say, in this way, in the selflessness of the person, understanding the unborn and the unceasing, is momentary destruction. In the selflessness of phenomena, there are also no two forms of birth and destruction, just like dreams and illusions, etc. So, what is worldly wisdom? It is the manifest attachment to the aspects of existence and non-existence, which is the view of all ordinary beings such as heretics and children, that is, the permanent self exists, while form does not exist. When I also experience the momentary, happiness and suffering, etc., exist, when correctly distinguishing feelings, I, Brahma, Ishvara, etc., are all impermanent. In dreams, there is no form, and when not asleep, it is said to exist, this is the manifest attachment to aspects. So, what is transcendental wisdom? It is the manifest attachment to the thought that falls into the self-characteristic and the common characteristic, which is the view of the Hearers and all Solitary Buddhas, that is, for those who are attached to external objects, it is the manifest attachment to the self-characteristic and the common characteristic. Therein, the self-
