If there is an object of focus, then in that case, entering into cessation is also not permissible, because it is for the Mind-Only school. Entering into cessation has characteristics, so merely various appearances to the object of focus are not permissible, because it is the appearance of duality. For the Mind-Only school of true awareness, because there is no characteristic, therefore, there is no thought and no appearance, and there is no attachment to the impermanent and the impure, etc., in the realization of the non-dual ultimate truth. Therefore, all meditations of the two aspects, etc., and the characteristics of the fruit, the nature of delusion, and all meditations of the two aspects that transcend the world do not exist. The statement that all phenomena are free from the four extremes means that there is no conceptualization of the four aspects, and these are also not perceived. Why? Because all realizations are non-dual. This "great wisdom" is the wisdom that distinguishes phenomena, and therefore, one should completely abandon the conceptualizations of phenomena such as oneness and otherness. Just as the Tathagata realized that all phenomena are ungraspable and inexpressible, so too, one should not conceptualize any phenomena such as things and non-things. Those who conceptualize the characteristics of hardness, warmth, and moisture, etc., are attached to the nature of conceptualization, and the constant phenomena of those unreal, completely imputed things are conceptualizations, and the external elements do not exist. It is like vowing to a deity, and being attached to the nature of the cause and the example. Just as the externalists say that the arising things exist because the conceptualization of the mind can accomplish the function of things. If these do not exist, then the results of anger and attachment, etc., will not exist. The consciousness that is empty of meaning is pervaded by deception, like a mirage in a dry season, etc. If everything is empty of meaning, then it will not be pervaded by deception, because it is not like that, so the external object is established. The All-Knowing One also thinks that in dreams, mirages and oceans, etc., have the results of deception and non-deception, so consciousness appears separately.

Things that arise apart from "I" do not exist. Therefore, whoever clings to the characteristics of discrimination, and whoever manifests attachment through that, is called the wisdom of imputation. For the wisdom without appearance, whoever investigates in order to enter with discriminating wisdom, that is, discriminating between coarse and subtle, comprehending emptiness, the characteristic of non-subsequent non-apprehension, and diligently striving for non-dual, true knowledge. The seeds of practice are hearing and thinking. Having become wise in this, and realizing the first ground, the Joyful One, one will obtain the wisdom of meditation on characteristics. Regarding this, the qualities of the grounds are extensively taught, such as the hundred samadhis. The initial extreme and the final extreme refer to the past and the future, meaning entering into the past and the future. Having attained the ultimate through the accumulation of merit and wisdom of the ten grounds, and having attained the ground of realizing the Tathagatagarbha, it is connected with being adorned with light rays in order to fully ripen sentient beings. Whatever arises from this, and whatever transforms from arising, that is merely name and discrimination. The reason is explained in order to comprehend that it is merely the appearance of one's own mind. How so? Because it has already been shown that external objects do not exist, just as the four extremes are said to be completely pure and separate. The so-called abode of self-nature is merely non-dual, true knowledge. By separate agents and actions. The characteristic of being free from birth and so on is unborn. Existing in such a way is naturally luminous, and like gold and so on, its own nature is established. The discrimination of appearing moisture is the arising of the water element appearing internally and externally. Heat is the discrimination of fire. By clinging to the false as true, it is because of falsely imputing to what is not true. Just as appearances such as forms appear to one with cataracts in their eyes, imputing external and internal meanings, from the discrimination of the grasper and the grasped, the five aggregates arise. The so-called consciousness and so on, refers to whatever manifests to words and various objects...
