And, one does not fully and truly see non-action and so forth, as it is said in the Holy Mother Prajnaparamita. The wisdom gained after abandoning error is that when one analyzes appearances such as form with wisdom and makes them empty like houses and so forth, then in non-dual wisdom, if one distinguishes between the characteristics of existence and non-existence, then at that time, the distinction of characteristics itself is an error. Just as cataracts are not completely healed and are impure, characteristics will obscure wisdom. The term "like" means an example. Illusion is that when examined with wisdom, it does not exist as children distinguish external objects. Because it is in accordance with this Dharma and is pervasive, all dualistic phenomena are like illusions. As it appears in the Prajnaparamita: Starting from form, even up to the Buddha himself, the appearances of form and so on are similar to illusions, similar to dreams. Just as children are attached to various phenomena and thus distinguish the nature of all things, are things also like illusions? Someone asked: Forms and other phenomena, in various natures, are distinguished by children as external objects and so on, in order to make them not see the cause, that is, to prove that the cause of inference is not seen, that is, to distinguish coarse and subtle things with wisdom, because they are only emptiness. For the illusion of men and mantras and so on, distinguished by external dogs, this is only the consciousness that appears separately. Therefore, the Omniscient One said: Like lightning that vanishes quickly, therefore it is similar to illusion. Because it vanishes, it is similar to illusion, these are all emptiness, the measure of the selflessness of phenomena. Like lightning that vanishes quickly, these are all moments, the measure of the selflessness of persons. Whoever slightly understands the emptiness of dreams, illusions, and images, etc., analyzes it with wisdom, in accordance with this Dharma, it appears as form, but in reality it is not form, therefore one must understand that mountains and so on are empty. The characteristics distinguished by children, external objects and permanent things, both of these are also emptiness.

The individual and general characteristics of things are not apparent because they are not fully distinguished by wisdom, that is the meaning. Illusion is not truly existent; in order to conform to the non-existent dharma, things are said to exist, which is to say that things exist like illusions. Furthermore, in many sutras such as the Prajñāpāramitā Sutra, all dharmas are said to be unborn and like illusions. This is so that sentient beings will not be confused, and the noble Mahamati discusses this excellent Dharma here. Those unborn dharmas, like the child of a barren woman, etc., do not have separate appearances of form, etc. But the nature of illusion is to appear in various forms. So how can the unborn be like illusions? Therefore, it is thought that this is contradictory. Regarding this, with respect to the latter aspect of omniscient wisdom, the foolishness produced by the conceptualization of children, being manifestly related to the agent, birth is unborn. Why? Because it is the cause of realizing that one's own mind is merely an appearance. Not realizing one's own mind, fools universally conceive of the arising of external objects. Related to "because seeing that it does not arise from existence and non-existence," because external objects do not exist, it is illusion. External objects also, in dualistic consciousness, grasp the objects of cause and effect as different. If there is no grasper, then by whom is the external object refuted? Existence, because it exists, does not arise. Non-existence also cannot be established, because it cannot be done, so it is said that because this exists, that exists. All dharmas are unconditioned, therefore merely immediately following, the arising of illusion is like truly unborn, they are also birth is unborn. Just as the child of a barren woman, etc., has no appearance, their nature does not exist, illusory things are not unborn. The non-Buddhists think that permanence, Brahma, Ishvara, atoms, etc., are the cause, related to the agent, etc., and the result arises, this is permanence and the causelessness of external objects.
