Here, two examples of medicinal trees are shown, meaning that one with conduct like the Buddha will definitely become a Buddha. Bodhisattvas below the seventh bhumi are called small medicine, and those above the eighth bhumi are called great medicinal trees, meaning that their conduct does not diminish. The sutra says, "Wherever the sons of the Sugata reside," up to "In this way, by showing examples of the mind," it indicates that those with the lineage obtain the fruit of the Mahayana, and between nirvana, they obtain large and small fruits, and it shows the example of accomplishment. The sutra says, "Know the methods of the Tathagatas," up to "Like how it is beautiful in all ten directions," it extensively shows the fruits maturing separately and obtaining excellence, and applying the examples to the meaning. The sutra says, "Here, there is always the Dharma that benefits the world," up to "To satisfy," it is doing what benefits gods and humans. The sutra says, "Having satisfied all the world," up to "Great tree," which refers to "Those things to be done," it shows the order of the Great Vehicle and Small Vehicle from the large and small fruits. The sutra says, "Light-protector, explaining the Dharma like this," up to "All my Shravakas will become Buddhas," it is summarizing the meaning, previously showing the meaning of guiding, later showing the meaning of certainty, and giving predictions for obtaining the fruit, also considering that the conduct of the noble Shravakas will become Buddhas, and giving predictions. The conduct of Bodhisattvas and falling away from the conduct of Bodhi, later generating the mind of Bodhi, if the roots of virtue have not declined, it is shown that they will obtain the unsurpassed fruit. After this is the chapter on predictions, why it is called prediction, there is an explanation of the name and two ways. The reason for this is that the noble Shariputra is sharp-witted, and he understands by merely hearing the Dharma, therefore predictions are made, and others with intermediate faculties understand by indicating with meaning and examples, therefore predictions are made. Or, in order to subdue the arrogant, all vehicles are one, there is no large or small.

It is for the sake of prophesying. Moreover, there are three types of prophecy: prophesying because of inherent nature, prophesying because of the existence of results due to differences, and prophesying because great beings deserve great teachings, and great causes deserve great results. Those that exist by nature are suitable for prophecy, and those that are not suitable for prophecy, such as asking whether ignorance has a beginning or not, are not prophesied. Those with special causes are suitable for prophecy. Great causes and great results are also suitable for prophecy. Small causes and small results are not suitable for prophecy. Those whose roots of virtue are ripe are quickly prophesied, and those who are not ripe are prophesied later. Those who wish to abandon samsara and quickly attain the fruit are quickly prophesied, and those who are bound to samsara by great compassion are gradually prophesied. Also, there is general prophecy and prophecy that is divided separately. Explaining the name is that whatever cause is made, that result is obtained, and it is called prophecy in order to show these separately. In the sutra, it says, "Then, the Blessed One spoke this verse..." up to "will hold evil teachings," which is a clear prophecy for the four noble Shravakas. Previously, it was shown with eight words, and later it was summarized and shown with verses. Among them, the first prophecy was given to the Venerable Kashyapa, and the other Venerables were prophesied after that. Among them, due to the differences in their respective faculties, some first attained the fruit of the noble ones and later became Buddhas, just as the five hundred monks were no different, but they became Buddhas at different times, like prophesying to each other. In the Mahayana, there are also differences between learners and non-learners, becoming Buddhas at the same time, and some first attain the fruit of the noble ones, and later those who are later than them become Buddhas, such as the Venerable Mahakashyapa who served three million Buddhas, the Venerable Subhuti who served three hundred and thirty million trillion Buddhas, and the Venerable Katyayana who served one hundred billion Buddhas.
