From "Unequal with an equal mind" to "Like treating one sentient being, treat other sentient beings likewise," this demonstrates equality. Being free from self and what belongs to self, abandoning love and hatred, having no sense of near and far, not concealing the Dharma, not being jealous, therefore teaching the Dharma equally to all beings. The sutra says, "Doing nothing else, but diligently teaching the Dharma," to "Like clouds pouring down rain." This is to benefit beings single-mindedly and teach the Dharma. "Passing away" refers to Nirvana. "Coming" refers to manifest enlightenment. "Dwelling" refers to teaching the Dharma and benefiting beings. "Rising" refers to rising up to ripen the faculties of sentient beings, constantly benefiting sentient beings with great compassion without feeling weary. The sutra says, "Noble ones and the base, with equal minds," to "Completely abandoning all weariness." This is to teach the Dharma without distinguishing between good and bad, observing the roots of virtue and teaching the Dharma. The sutra says, "I have rained down the true rain of Dharma," to "The earth changes its state in many ways." This is to show that beings find happiness through hearing. The first nine words combine the metaphor and the meaning. The following four and a half words explain the combination of fruit and cause with the metaphor of fruit and flowers having incompatible causes. The eight timid words explain the meaning. Again, half a word explains the metaphor. The first word is divided into two, previously summarizing with one word, and explaining separately with seven words, this is the first. "The earth changes its state" refers to the ten bhumis of the Great Vehicle, as well as the lineage, growth, up to the Tathagata ground, explained separately. The sutra says, "Among gods and humans, the pleasing ones," to "Those extremely subtle medicines." This is a metaphor for examining without lineage, just as the root is extremely subtle and moistened by rain. The noble Shravakas are like medicinal herbs. The noble Bodhisattvas are like great medicinal trees. The sutra says, "Though they are small, yet in this world," to "That is called the supreme medicine."
