From "Millions of gates of Dharma," to "Thus the Tathagata explains all Dharmas," the following three verses repeat and explain the previous meaning. One of the verses explains that what was previously shown only as a means is also exhausted in the One Vehicle, and two verses explain the source of the three characteristics. The sutra says, "Thus, the nature of Dharma always abides," to "Those skilled in means will become extremely manifest." This verse explains the source of the three characteristics. The One Vehicle refers to the nature of perfect completion, as previously explained. The very nature of Dharma is the very nature of Dharma because it truly abides in all Dharmas. Dharma has afflictions and purity; having abandoned afflictions and attained purity is the very unchanging nature of Dharma. The very nature of truth abides constantly, so it abides without wavering. The essence abides in enlightenment, and through skillful means in all Dharmas, it is extremely manifest. All Dharmas have two aspects: emptiness and existence. Emptiness has no distinctions, so it is one characteristic, called complete imputation. Existence has distinctions, so there are two aspects: permanence and impermanence. Permanence is the characteristic of perfect completion, and impermanence is the characteristic of other-powered. There are also two within that: with outflows and without outflows. That which has outflows is the characteristic of other-powered, and that which is without outflows is the characteristic of perfect completion. Therefore, taking the characteristic of perfect completion as the authority, it is called the One Vehicle. By realizing the very truth with the One Vehicle, it is the very nature of Dharma and the very unchanging nature of Dharma. Therefore, abiding without wavering, one teaches the Dharma to sentient beings through skillful means. The sutra says, "All the offerings of gods and humans in the ten directions," to "They also explain this supreme vehicle." The following five and a half verses explain the present meaning. The sutra says, "Explaining thoroughly with skillful means," to "Having known this ground of four faiths." This verse explains that what was previously shown only as a means is later shown as it truly is. The sutra says, "Knowing the conduct of all embodied beings," to "Various manifest accomplishments are extremely

To the verse ending with "showed," this verse explains why only skillful means were shown previously, and only later was the true principle shown. The behavior of all sentient beings is the characteristic of the mind's behavior. What is thought is the characteristic of universal movement. Power is the power of karma. It can also be called strength, which is the strength of knowing the various faculties of sentient beings. Diligence is the strength of abiding and not abiding. Thus, having understood the faith of sentient beings, many examples and bases are manifested in various ways, just like the faculties of sentient beings. Future Buddhas will also understand the three characteristics. Those who are dwelling now also show only skillful means at first, and then show the true principle later, because they know the faculties of sentient beings. In the sutra it says, "The guide of faculties, the Victorious One, I am also here." To the verse ending with "This is the power of my self-awareness wisdom," the thirty verses from here on explain that "I am also the same." Among them, two verses directly point out and show. Twenty-eight verses explain in detail. In the sutra it says, "The poor sentient beings I have seen." To the verse ending with "Desire has always blinded these," this verse explains in detail. The first twenty-one and a half sentences explain that the previous three vehicles were only shown as skillful means, and it can be known from the sentences alone that the various inclinations of sentient beings are known. Seven verses state that the present is also the true manifestation, previously shown for the sake of attaining the wisdom of the all-knowing Buddha's one vehicle. The former also has four aspects: four and a half verses explain that one should be liberated from obstacles in the place of birth. Three verses explain that the mind cannot be liberated. Twelve and a half sentences mean that it is only a skillful means of showing. Four and a half sentences explain the manifestation of the three vehicles. The former also has two aspects: one sentence explains that there is no virtue. Three and a half sentences explain that there is sin. The meaning of "I have seen" is that among the five eyes, it is seen by the Buddha's eye. Abandoning wisdom and merit is the merit of sentient beings in the six realms from beginningless time.
