These were explained, combining the four tenets from the commentaries with the five degenerations. The four tenets are the tenet of the world, the tenet of individual faculties, the tenet of antidotes, and the tenet of ultimate truth. Among these, the antidote to the degeneration of the eon and the degeneration of sentient beings is the tenet of the world. The antidote to the degeneration of life is the tenet of individual faculties. The antidote to the degeneration of afflictions and the degeneration of views is the tenet of antidotes. Having overcome the five degenerations through the three tenets, one enters the ultimate truth, and reality itself is wisdom. Regarding this, form and destruction are the questions: Why are there neither more nor fewer than five degenerations? The answer is: Sentient beings are of two types: householders who engage in evil deeds and those with wrong views, namely renunciate non-Buddhists. Householders who lack auspiciousness and generate afflictions are called the degeneration of afflictions. Non-Buddhists who seek meaningless wrong views are called the degeneration of views. Furthermore, dull faculties are called the degeneration of afflictions, and sharp faculties are called the degeneration of views. When obtaining future results through two causes, the degeneration is divided into two because the collection and differentiation are inconsistent. The two internal results and the general collection are called the degeneration of sentient beings. Sentient beings' sins, the two external results, and the general collection are called the degeneration of the eon. Explaining the root, the internal non-virtuous result is called the degeneration of life, and the external non-virtuous result is called the degeneration of the eon. The cause and result of sin arise from the sins of sentient beings, so it is called the degeneration of sentient beings. Therefore, the characteristics of the five degenerations are explained, and the five degenerations are explained in order to be disgusted with them. Among these, one includes the other. In the sutras, twelve degenerations are mentioned: the degeneration of the eon is explained, the degeneration of time is explained, the degeneration of sentient beings is explained, the degeneration of afflictions is explained, the degeneration of life is explained, the degeneration of the differences of the three vehicles is explained, the degeneration of impure realms is explained, and sentient beings to be tamed.

Showing the difficulty of the turbid age, showing the turbid age of various afflictions, showing the turbid age of heretical strife, showing the turbid age of demons, showing the turbid age of demonic deeds, totaling twelve kinds. These twelve kinds of turbid ages only exist in the Buddha's pure land of manifestation, and only Mahayana practitioners have them. In the impure land of the five turbidities, both Mahayana and Hinayana exist. Kalpa and time are the kalpa turbidity, sentient beings and difficult-to-tame sentient beings are the sentient being turbidity, afflictions and various afflictions are the affliction turbidity, lifespan is the lifespan turbidity, heretical strife is the view turbidity, these eight are the aspects of the five turbidities. The remaining four show the differences of the three vehicles. In the impure land, demons and demonic deeds are not included in the five turbidities. In the commentary, complete purity means the absence of turbidity. There are also six aspects of turbidity. If one is separated from these turbidities, it is called complete purity. What are the six? The turbidity of attachment, the turbidity of conduct, the turbidity of obscuration, the turbidity of different characteristics, the turbidity of lacking qualities, and the turbidity of ignorance, totaling six. For the sake of the antidote, for the sake of abandoning laziness, for the sake of purity, for the sake of showing, for the sake of possessing merit, for the sake of possessing wisdom, these six antidotes and six outflows are applied in order. The Dharmakaya Buddha descends into the world at the time of the five turbidities, therefore, the Buddha Bhagavan descends into the world at the time of the five turbidities. Why does Maitreya descend when the lifespan is eighty thousand years, while Shakyamuni descends when the lifespan is one hundred years? It is said that the aspirations are different, and it is the same that both descend at the time of the five turbidities. Previously, the three vehicles were only expediently shown, and later the truth was shown, which is the same as the manifestation body. If the body of merit and the manifestation body do not subdue the two vehicles, then they must descend at a time when there is no turbidity, and then subdue the two vehicles, so they must descend at the time of turbidity. The turbid age refers to starting from the declining kalpa, and the five turbidities gradually arise.
