It is the ladder that generates suffering. The sutra says: From "declaring the heart of enlightenment" to "speaking without being asked," the first two verses show the wisdom of directly realizing enlightenment and nirvana. The latter two verses show that the above wisdom is incomprehensible to the two vehicles and is the realm of profound wisdom. The sutra says: From "speaking of all your own actions" to "requesting the Great Hero to make a prophecy," the first verse shows that the Blessed One arose from samadhi and declared the Dharma nature. The following verse shows the fourfold assembly discussing doubts and requesting liberation. The sutra says: From "all the listeners present" to "or is it to show the conduct to me?" those who have attained the fruit, is it the fruit itself that is manifest, or is it the cause that is manifest? If the fruit is manifest, then what is the need for praise? If the cause is manifest, then because the cause is cultivated, the fruit is gradually accomplished. Therefore, the fourfold assembly generated a definite thought. In order to explain that there is no definite meaning, it is shown that Shariputra generated doubt. The sutra says: From "uttering a wonderful sound with the supreme drum" to "Alas! How to perfect the practice," it is the noble assembly of listeners requesting to teach the Dharma, and the outer assembly requesting to teach the Dharma. The mind-born son taught by the Thus Come One requests to be born from the womb and so on. The sutra says: From "thus requested" to "will become hatred," it can be divided into two parts: first, preventing cowardice, and second, the later request, which is preventing not speaking. Furthermore, there are four ways of explaining and prophesying, such as definitely prophesying. Furthermore, there are also three types of prophecy, namely, showing the good and bad deeds done by the fourfold assembly in the past, prophesying the great man to become a Buddha, and determining the meaning of obscure language. Furthermore, the commentary relies on four meanings: determining the mind, the cause of prophecy, accepting prophecy, and requesting to infer prophecy. In terms of determining the mind,

This is because it is considered that the self-nature of the Tathagatagarbha is truly existent, so it is not declared, and this is purity. There are five types of hatred: hating with slander, hating because it is difficult to practice, hating with inversion, hating with regret, and hating with doubt. Hating with slander means hating with the sound of hearing, thinking that the extinction of the Shravakas is the true limit, and hearing the extinction of the Mahayana, they slander and hate both. Hating because it is difficult to practice means that the practice of the Bodhisattvas must be accomplished after countless kalpas, so they become tired and hate. Hating with inversion means that for inferior beings whose faculties are not mature, who have heavy afflictions and are attached to self and what belongs to self, if profound Dharma is taught to them, they will grasp it in reverse and hate it. Hating with regret means that like the noble Shariputra, abiding in the mind of the Hinayana, they regret and fear, and thus enter the Mahayana. Fearing with doubt means those who have excessive pride. Among them, the lineage of the Shravakas has two types: definite and indefinite. Inferior beings think that they have obtained what they have not obtained, and they have heavy afflictions. Bodhisattvas abide in the land of turning back and not turning back, among them, Shravakas with a definite lineage fear with slander. Shravakas with an indefinite lineage fear with regret. Thinking that they have obtained what they have not obtained, they fear with doubt. Those with heavy afflictions fear with inversion. Bodhisattvas who turn back fear because it is difficult to practice. Bodhisattvas who do not turn back are free from all fears, and become vessels capable of declaring the One Vehicle. Again, not declaring and preventing is for the benefit of two types of individuals, namely, those who have contempt for the Tathagatagarbha, and those who think it is more difficult than practice. Again, not declaring and preventing is to prevent gods and humans from fearing because they do not understand the meaning, to let many retinues seek profound meaning, to make them feel respectful and precious, and to subdue those who have excessive pride. In the Sutra, from "Venerable Shariputra" to "Please the Sugata to declare," it is a past event.

The countless Tathagatas demonstrate the benefit of sentient beings. This is the second request to turn the wheel of Dharma. Previously, the request was made with a single sentence, and afterwards it was summarized with verses. This is the first. In the sutra, from "Why is that?" to "There is faith and clinging," it shows the reason for being suitable to be taught, that is, first there is the good cause of seeing the Tathagata, there are retinues with sharp wisdom, clear faculties, and proficiency in profound meanings, etc. In the sutra, from "Then the venerable Shariputra" to "How will you teach the Dharma?" it is summarized with verses. In the sutra, from "That is the Bhagavan" to "Will fall into a great abyss," it is the third prohibition, that is, arrogant people who do not have the cause of hearing, abide in the four worldly meditations, have not attained the fruit of Arhat but think they have, at the time of death, because there is no noble path, therefore with a slanderous mind, sentient beings will fall into the great abyss of hell. In the sutra, from "Then the Bhagavan" to "Will become a good doctor and be happy," it is the third request to turn the wheel of Dharma, stating the reasons for requesting to speak and being worthy as a vessel of Dharma. The venerable Shariputra himself can remember past lives and also understand the faculties of others, therefore he requested with the reason of being worthy as a vessel of Dharma. In the sutra, from "Then the venerable Shariputra at that time" to "They will believe in the Dharma you teach," in the four verses, the first verse is requesting to turn the wheel of Dharma from the perspective of Shariputra himself being the chief of the Buddha's sons, the latter half of the verse is requesting by telling others that it is because of the previous blessing of the Tathagata, the latter half of the verse is requesting by telling from the perspective of both self and others, this is the first. The Lord of Two Feet refers to gods and humans being worthy as vessels of Dharma, and because he is their lord, the Bhagavan spoke by the Lord of Two Feet. In the sutra, "Where do you always turn the wheel of Dharma first?"
