That which is separated from those three characteristics is the unconditioned, permanent dharma. What is the nature of the essence? It is the nature of the essence of the five aggregates and the dharma of the nature of the essence separated from the five aggregates. The five aggregates are the characteristics of birth and so on. That which is separated from the five aggregates is the absence of birth and so on. Again, the three explanations are that the first two of those five words are the same as those explained above. What are those dharmas like? They are without self-nature, that is, the dharmas of dependent origination. What is the characteristic like? They are the dharmas of characteristics that can be tamed like a cow. What is the nature of the essence like? It is the dharma of the five aggregates that are grasped and that grasp, the nature of the essence of the origin, or that which is grasped by the truth of the path. Again, there are four explanations for those dharmas: Explaining based on the action of teaching the Dharma, what are those dharmas? They are the dharmas of explanation of name, sentence, and the collection of arising. What are those dharmas like? They are the dharmas explained based on the dharmas of the Tathagata. What are those dharmas like? They are the beings to be tamed, the sentient beings to be tamed. What is the characteristic like? It is to understand based on the sound of words, that is, the characteristic of entering the sound of words. What is the nature of the essence? It is not certain to enter the true Dharma by relying only on the essence, because there is also attachment and clinging to it. Therefore, it shows that entering by realizing that the nature of the essence of Dharma is the nature of the essence separated from the concepts of words. In the sutra it says, "Then the Bhagavan extensively showed the meaning of that," until "no one can know." From here on, the twenty-one verses are divided into two types: the eighteen and a half verses show the two supreme ones mentioned above, and the following four and a half verses explain the arising of faith and the showing of the true meaning. The first part is also divided into two types: the first two verses show the two supreme ones, and the following sixteen and a half verses show the difference between the two supreme ones, this is the first part. The first verse shows the qualities of the teacher, and the following verse shows the praise of the Dharma. In the sutra it says, "Previously heard and practiced," until "very difficult to know."

"Difficult to see." Up to this point, the following fifteen verses show the difference between the two saints. That is, there are two types. Fourteen verses praise the Dharma as sacred. The next verse praises the speaker of the Dharma as sacred. The first of these is further divided into five types. The first verse shows the two extremely profound aspects of reading and reciting, and accomplishing and practicing. The next verse shows the three extremely profound aspects of attaining the sacred state of mind and happiness by practicing the fruits and increasing the qualities. Again, one verse shows the unsurpassed profundity. Again, one and a half verses show the extremely profound entry. Again, nine and a half verses show the extremely profound holding of the two vehicles and the uncommon, this is the first. In the Sutra, it says, "The practice of practicing in this way is." To "What is that like also seen." This verse shows that merit increases in various ways by practicing the fruits. Obtaining the sacred joy of mind, also by diligently practicing for countless eons, one obtains the sacred fruit. One obtains the sacred state of knowing and seeing everything. In the Sutra, it says, "That is what I fully know." To "What is the characteristic of that?" This shows the unsurpassed and extremely profound. The Tathagata fully knows what the nature and text of that are like. In the Sutra, it says, "That cannot be taught." To "The pure ones who abide in faith." This shows the extremely profound entry. The Tathagata's teaching of the Dharma, the name, words, and letters of the Dharma are difficult to enter and know, so the entry is extremely profound. Or, because the Tathagata himself abides and enters into this profound, it shows the difference from the heretics. Unlike the heretics, their own Dharma practice does not realize the nature of Dharma. Because dependent origination is profound, it is far from the expression of words, and sentient beings cannot enter. Only Bodhisattvas who abide in steadfast faith can know. Bodhisattvas who abide above the first bhumi, because they have faith in the four dharmas, should explain this Dharma with patience to those who do not regress.
