Surrounded by the eight assemblies and abiding in samadhi, the retinue rejoices and gazes upon the Buddha's face and abides, because he realizes the profound Dharma. "Entering into equipoise" means that the mind is equally placed on the infinite profound meaning. The commentary says that there are two kinds of samadhi: having mastered the mind and body and being perfect, if one does not enter samadhi to explain this profound Dharma, there will be movement and conceptualization, so it is necessary to enter samadhi, and being free from all obscurations is to have mastered it. Entering into samadhi is because samadhi has removed all obscurations, so for the one who teaches the Dharma, mastering it is the meaning. The commentary says that there are also two kinds of mastery: teaching in accordance with the faculties of each sentient being, thereby introducing them to the path of enlightenment, and combining their respective methods and antidotes, thereby showing the path of non-leakage; secondly, sentient beings have been tightly bound by afflictions since beginningless time, and in order to counteract these afflictions, it is necessary to pacify conceptualization, agitation, and actions such as anger. Therefore, it is necessary to enter into that samadhi and control them through the power of samadhi. The commentary says that because of entering samadhi, the earth shakes, and the things of the past countless eons also arise from entering samadhi, and not from other causes. The Blessed One does not possess the mind and conduct of not entering samadhi, because he always possesses the conduct of samadhi. If this is the case, why is it said that the Blessed One abides in samadhi? This is for ten reasons: in order to enter samadhi and arise from samadhi, thereby benefiting sentient beings; the Blessed One enters into the samadhi of the Dharma nature and performs miracles such as emitting light, in order to dispel the doubt that if he does not enter samadhi, these omens are not the actions of the Blessed One; or to show that the Dharma teacher is able to gather the power of samadhi; the profound Dharma is difficult to understand without entering samadhi, in order to show that one should generate reverence; wisdom arises naturally after entering samadhi, and not from other means, in order to guide people to practice samadhi; and to show that one can teach the Dharma through the perfection of samadhi and wisdom.

It shows that it is not perfection, and it shows that future Dharma teachers should teach the Dharma with a mind similar to that, and by showing this way, it makes others have a very definite mind, which is the characteristic of hearing and holding, thus also showing that others have a definite mind, and entering into Samadhi and showing many omens, so that the noble Maitreya and others have the idea of asking for Dharma, not others. Also, in order to show the three secrets, that is, entering into Samadhi to show the mind secret, and showing the body secret with omens such as light, and teaching the Dharma to show the speech secret. Also, the thought is that if you want to explain the excellent "Lotus Sutra", you should enter the Samadhi of the wonderful white lotus, and you should not enter the Samadhi of infinite meaning. In this regard, just as the "Diamond Sutra" says, "Teach the Dharma with upright body and mindfulness", first enter the Samadhi of infinite non-eating, and then explain the excellent "Lotus Sutra", the former is shown for the Bodhisattva, and the latter is shown for the Shravakas. Also, the former is self-nature, and the latter is the karma of behavior, which is combined with the order of each faculty and named, so there is no contradiction. From "The Blessed One entered Samadhi not long ago" to "Flower rain fell one after another" in the sutra, there are two kinds of vessel worlds, flowers falling and the earth shaking. Here, the flowers falling are pleasant and joyful flowers, so those who hear this Dharma will have a peaceful and joyful mind. There are also five kinds of merits of these flowers: the opening and closing of the flowers shows that hearing this Dharma can eliminate the defilements of afflictions; as the decoration of the world, it is that hearing this Dharma can decorate the body with many merits; the opening of the flowers shows that it reveals the meaning of the only vehicle; just as the fruit comes after the flowers, hearing this Dharma can obtain the fruit of great Bodhi; the fragrance is fragrant and pleasant, it is that hearing this Dharma can make the inner merits perfect, so that the realms of the ten directions are filled with pleasant merits.
