Attainment and the attainment of manifest qualities. Among these, the attainment of manifestation is as follows: the three grounds, namely the ground of seeing, the ground of meditation, and the ground of ultimate attainment. The attainment of manifest wisdom is as follows: the attainment of the wisdom of the ninth ground, namely the knowledge of the Dharma, the knowledge of categories, the knowledge of suffering, the knowledge of origin, the knowledge of cessation, the knowledge of the path, and the conventional knowledge and the knowledge of non-arising that are obtained after them. Manifest faith is as follows: the arising of genuine trust in the four, namely the Buddha, the Dharma, the Sangha, and the discipline, which is to be understood as taught in the Extensive Exposition Treatise. The attainment of manifest fruit is as follows: the attainment of the four fruits of a renunciate. The attainment of manifest qualities is as follows: the immeasurables, the liberations, the spheres of mastery, the spheres of exhaustion, the absence of afflictions, the knowledge of aspirations, perfect discernment, supernormal knowledge, and so on. Among these, the attainment of the vehicle of a solitary buddha is threefold in brief: first, because one has previously attained the roots of virtue that are in accordance with the definitive and concordant aspects. For example, because the previous body has attained the roots of virtue that are in accordance with the definitive and concordant aspects, the subsequent body will attain the fruit of a solitary buddha on a single seat. Second, because one has attained the stainless suchness. For example, having previously attained the body of a noble one, one will then attain the fruit of a solitary buddha. The Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra also states, "The second is that which has been attained from the beginning." Third, because one attains it gradually. For example, it is not that one will attain it with one body and one seat, but rather one first generates the virtue of the definitive aspect, and then gradually attains it up to the knowledge of exhaustion and non-arising. Therefore, the Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra states, "The third is that which has not been attained from the beginning." Among these, the first two attainments can manifest

Whatever actions are performed will be transformed into the wealth of one's own country. Whoever has manifestly attained all accomplishments is called a Pratyekabuddha, like a rhinoceros. The attainment through the Great Vehicle is as follows: attainment through great compassion, attainment through generating the mind of enlightenment, attainment through inconceivable power, attainment through the perfections, attainment through the objects of attraction, attainment through the grounds, and attainment through the unshared qualities of a Buddha. All of these should be distinguished as previously explained. The teachings on great compassion should be understood as explained in the Treatise on Great Compassion, the Grounds of Yogic Practice. Generating the mind of enlightenment should be understood as the two types of mind generation taught in the Treatise on Discriminating the Middle from the Extremes, and as the arising of mind generation from the five characteristics in the Grounds of Yogic Practice. Inconceivable power refers to the power of the six superknowledges, which should be understood as taught in the chapter on power within the Grounds of Yogic Practice; the rest are merely terms. The so-called "manner of explanation" is, in brief, twelvefold. Explaining objects is like this: the various distinct forms, and so on. Revealing the dharmas such as the eye is like this: the aggregates, elements, sources, as well as dependent origination, places and non-places, faculties, truths, close mindfulness, having form, being formless, being visible, being invisible, being obstructive, being non-obstructive, and so forth, revealing countless different concepts. The explanation that examines one's own doctrine is like this: the teachings of the sutra section, the section of metered verses, the section of prophecies, and so on. The explanation that examines other doctrines is like this: relying on the seven logical reasonings, greatly refuting the speech of others and establishing the explanations of one's own doctrine. The seven logical reasonings should be understood as taught in the Treatise on Discriminating the Middle from the Extremes and in the Grounds of Yogic Practice. Revealing the definitive meaning is like this: sutras and verses
