That is, in this way, the Bodhisattvas will seek the unsurpassed Bodhi in the future, and therefore they will possess such qualities and benefits. Or now, or by the power of the benefits of the Bodhi of the Buddhas of the three times, the activities of the Bodhisattvas will become particularly outstanding. Even those Bodhisattvas who generate afflictions surpass the roots of virtue of all sentient beings, Hearers, and Solitary Buddhas. What need is there to mention other qualities? This is the second, praising the qualities of the Bodhisattva. The roots of virtue of Bodhisattvas who generate afflictions also surpass the roots of virtue of all ordinary beings and the two vehicles. What need is there to mention those who possess other virtuous qualities? Even the mind of an ordinary being surpasses the two vehicles, what need is there to mention a Bodhisattva who abides on the ground and generates afflictions for the benefit of sentient beings? This is the concluding remark. In the commentary on the Noble Perfection of Wisdom, it says: Although Arhats and Solitary Buddhas have exhausted their outflows, Bodhisattvas cannot even reach the point of generating the first thought. For example, even if the son of a Wheel-Turning King is in the womb, he is superior to the sons of others. Furthermore, for example, even if the son of a king has not been crowned king, he is still superior to ministers who are skilled and wealthy people. Why is that? Sentient beings seek their own happiness and crave relatives and friends for the sake of their own bodies. Although the two vehicles do not crave worldly happiness, they seek the happiness of Nirvana in order to pacify their own suffering, and do not benefit sentient beings. Bodhisattvas generate the mind for the sake of completely subduing all sentient beings, so they are particularly outstanding. Furthermore, for example, an Arhat with six superknowledges bestows Dharma robes and a begging bowl to a novice monk and leads him into the path.

After that, the monk thought: By which vehicle should I attain complete nirvana? Thinking, the Buddha, the Bhagavan, is supreme, I should attain complete nirvana by the vehicle of the Buddha. The teacher, knowing his intention, took back the Dharma robes and the alms bowl, carried them himself, and let the monk go ahead. The monk then thought: Supreme Bodhi is very far away, one must remain in samsara for a long time, and one must endure immeasurable suffering, it is better to quickly attain complete nirvana through the nirvana of the Lesser Vehicle. When he had this thought, the teacher, knowing it, returned the Dharma robes and the alms bowl to the monk, and made him go behind. After doing this three times, the monk said to the teacher: Teacher, you are old like a young child, sometimes you let me go ahead, and sometimes you let me go behind, what is the reason for this? The teacher said: You first generated the mind to realize Buddhahood, that mind is very noble, because it is an act of abiding in the path of the teacher. For such a person, even the Buddha should pay homage, let alone an Arhat? Therefore, I let you go ahead. But you later regretted it and wanted to practice the Lesser Vehicle, you are very far from me, so I let you go behind. The monk, hearing these words, was extremely frightened, thinking that my teacher knows my thoughts, I only generated the Bodhicitta once, and it is already superior to the Two Vehicles, what if it is completely perfected? So he firmly abided in the Dharma of the Great Vehicle. There are many such stories. Furthermore, in the commentary on the Arya Prajnaparamita, it is said: By making offerings to the Two Vehicle practitioners filling the three thousand great thousand worlds, like a forest of light, it is better to make offerings to the Bodhisattva who first generated the mind, the merit is greater. The Two Vehicle practitioners are like that.

If your power manifests as the basis of merit for all sentient beings, why can't it just be a Bodhisattva who generates Bodhicitta? It is said: It is not just that because of three things. That is, practicing with the mind of omniscient wisdom, constantly inseparable from the qualities such as the six perfections, and the Bodhisattva abandons the faults of the three realms and can generate the three vehicles. The two vehicles are not like that, so they appear particularly superior. Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara Thus spoke to the Blessed One: Blessed One, as the Blessed One said, what is the Śrāvakayāna, and what is the Mahāyāna, that is the One Vehicle, what is the intention behind that? From here onwards is the fourth part, the intention of the Tathāgata's teaching of the One Vehicle. Here also shows the question and the answer. This is the question itself. Thus, what the Blessed One previously said as the Śrāvakayāna, and in the Mahāyāna sutras, what is said as the Bodhisattva Vehicle, those are the One Vehicle, as it is said in the Lotus Sutra, what is the summary of those intentions. The Blessed One told Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara: Son of good family, as in those Śrāvakayāna, the various Dharma natures that are shown, such as the five aggregates, the six internal sources, the six external sources, and those etc., in the Mahāyāna, those Dharmas are the same in the Dharmadhatu, the same in reason, therefore I do not say there are different vehicles. Etc., this is the second part, the display of the Tathāgata's true answer. Here it is also divided into three: truly explaining the intention, showing the wrong clinging of the ignorant, and summarizing the explanation of the intention. This is the separate explanation of the intention. The Blessed One told Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara: As I said the Śrāvakayāna,
