It is said that it is for the sake of particularity. Some say that the first two countless kalpas abandon the evil destinies like those on the skin. The third abandons like that in the flesh. Having entered the stage of the Thus-gone One, one abandons the evil destinies like those in the bones. Although there are two kinds of explanations, the latter explanation is more in accordance with the words of the sutra and should be considered again and again. The so-called "immeasurable" is called immeasurable kalpas because it cannot be counted based on years, months, and so on. Like this, there are nine kinds of numbers, namely, year, month, half-month, day and night, time, half-time, moment, short time, and instant. In the Sutra Unraveling the Profound Meaning, it says, "By three countless kalpas, or immeasurable time, month, immeasurable months, immeasurable days, immeasurable short times, immeasurable instants, immeasurable moments." In reality, if the measure of instants and so on is shown first, and then the great kalpa is explained after that, why are instants and so on shown later? It is said, "Just as it is shown in the Great Commentary." Therefore, from instants and so on, day and night manifest. From accumulating days and nights, half-months and months and so on manifest. From accumulating half-months and months and so on, the great kalpa manifests. Why is the coarse shown first and the subtle shown later? It is said, "Because the treatise writers want to show it in detail." Some say this, "The commentators seek the dharma of the characteristics of the nature of the Abhidharma, not the former. If it does not contradict the characteristics of the dharma, then there is no fault in explaining it as one wishes." Other teachers say, "The treatise writers want to show the coarse first and the subtle later, in order to enter in sequence." This sutra is also the same as this, so there is no fault. These words of the sutra should also be explained from bottom to top. The so-called instant is the instant and that instant.

It is called "ིག་". The so-called "སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment)" is, as stated in the commentary on the Noble Prajñāpāramitā: "The shortest of times is one-sixtieth of a ཐང་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: , , , )." In the treatise "Showing Various Minds," it says: "The so-called "སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment)" is like this: because within one སྐད་ཅིག་མ་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment) is the shortest སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment), therefore སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment) is shown as a measure of time." Regarding the measure of སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment), some say, for example, that a strong person turns his body very quickly and looks at many stars, just as the time it takes to look at only one star is a སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment), as described extensively in that very text. Furthermore, in the treatise "Great Vibhāṣā," how should the measure of སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment) be known? Some say, in the treatise "Establishment," for example, when a mature woman spins cotton at a medium speed, neither too long nor too short, the duration of that twisting is the measure of that སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment). What is shown there does not refer to the length of the cotton or thread, but the time it takes to take the cotton from the hand and twist it is called སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment). If the measure of སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment) was asked before, why is the measure of སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment) from the treatise "Establishment" shown as the basis? It is said: Here, the gross is mentioned to show the subtle, because the subtle is difficult to understand and cannot be clearly shown. For example, one hundred and twenty སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment) is one སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment), up to the extensive description. Some say that this is only gross and not the measure of སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment). If it is according to what I say, there are sixty-four སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment) in one snap of the fingers by a strong person. Some say that it is not like that. If it is according to what I say, for example, when two strong people pull and cut many fine threads of Kāśī cloth, the number of threads cut is the number of སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment). Some say that, however, those are gross and not the measure of སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment). The true measure of སྐད་ཅིག་ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Chinese literal meaning: kshaṇa, , , moment) has not been spoken by the Bhagavan. Like that.
