are distinguished. The objects of afflictions such as desire are called outer skin. The forms of objects such as pride are called albumen. The objects of elaborations are said to be like essence. In the treatise "Showing the Buddha-Nature," it says: "Whatever has conceptualization and a mind that is inverted should be compared to the outer skin, albumen, and essence in order." Or, because the intentions of the treatise authors are different, it cannot be said in this way. Among them, the number of types is shown to be many or few, and some are based solely on the obscurations of knowledge, dividing the bad states into three types, such as the upholding of treatises in the "Noble Good Conduct Sutra" and as stated in the "Yogacara-bhumi." Therefore, in the "Yogacara-bhumi," the other twelve Bodhisattva abodes will abandon all the afflictive obscurations and corresponding bad states of those three great asamkhyeya kalpas, as well as the obscurations of knowledge and corresponding bad states. Among them, for these three abodes, it should be known that the bad states corresponding to the afflictive obscurations are to be abandoned. In the Joyful Land, all the bad states corresponding to the afflictive aspects of the bad realms are to be permanently abandoned. In the Manifest Land, all the large and medium bad states corresponding to the afflictive aspects are abandoned. In the abode of Signless Spontaneous Accomplishment, it should be known that all the bad states corresponding to the afflictive aspects that hinder the purity of the tolerance of non-arising dharmas are to be abandoned. In the Manifest Land, all afflictions are abandoned. At the summit of the abodes, it should be known that all the obscurations of afflictions, habits, and latent tendencies are to be abandoned, which is entering the Tathagata's abode. The bad states corresponding to the obscurations of knowledge should be known to be of three types, like those existing in the outer skin, albumen, and essence. Among them, like those existing in the outer skin, are those who abide in the Joyful Land.

Abandon! Like being in the egg white, it is abandoning the spontaneously accomplished without characteristics. Like being in the essence, it is abandoning the abode of the Tathagata, and it is also obtaining the wisdom of complete purification of all obscurations. For these three abodes, abandoning afflictions and cognitive obscurations, becoming their collection, in order, are those non-abodes, so it is said. For some, afflictions and cognitive obscurations are also shown as three types. For example, in the *Yogacarabhumi Shastra*, affliction obscurations are also divided into two types: those of the path of seeing and those of the path of cultivation, shown as being in the skin and in the egg white, and in the cognitive obscurations, it is shown as the evil destinies existing in the essence. From that very treatise, how is the vehicle and time of accomplishment discerned, and how long does it take to achieve it? It is said: Because there is a difference in the three faculties, it is established by the three vehicles. The two vehicles are also the root of the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment vehicle. Furthermore, the two vehicles can be obtained in immeasurable time, depending on the conditions and how fully they mature. The last vehicle depends on the three evil destinies and will be obtained in three countless eons. What are the three evil destinies? The aspect of disliking bad migrations, and like being in the skin, by abandoning it, one will not go to bad migrations, and even when combined, one will not dislike or be disgusted. And in accordance with the aspect of affliction obscurations, like being in the egg white, by abandoning it, in all ways, even the most subtle afflictions will not arise, and the correct habitual tendencies will not be destroyed. And in accordance with the aspect of cognitive obscurations, like being on the feet, by abandoning it, one can correctly destroy habitual tendencies, and for all knowable things, the obscuring wisdom will enter, so it is said. Therefore, in short, showing the stage of abandonment is also shown through four ways. The first is to abandon the abode in the three abodes, showing things like being in the skin, etc., as in the previously mentioned treatise.
