It is not so. Because it is a true dedication, in all lifetimes, until the attainment of unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, the other shore and the ripening fruit desired by those (other shores) will not be exhausted. This is said to be the fifth characteristic action of dedication. The sutra itself has already expressed it. The Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara also said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, what is exceedingly vast among these perfections that you have spoken of? What is the very presence of complete affliction? What is the very thorough training? What is the very immovability? What is exceedingly pure? From here onwards, it shows the eleventh door, which demonstrates the five characteristics, such as being exceedingly vast. This also shows the asking of questions and the answering. This is the very first asking of questions. This is because the Bodhisattva had previously heard about these five characteristics from other meanings, and therefore he asked this question. Or, because of the blessing of the Tathagata, he asked this question. The Blessed One said to the Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara: Son of good family, that which is without attachment, without viewing, and with true dedication, that is called exceedingly vast. And so on, this is the second showing of the Tathagata's true answer. This is also divided into two types: dividing into two types starting from the five characteristics, and showing the latter three characteristics starting from the stage of the ground. This is the first, starting from the five characteristics, the three aspects of non-attachment, non-viewing, and true dedication are called exceedingly vast conduct, because there is no inconsistency in the various stages. That which is without fault and without discrimination is called without complete affliction. This shows the second characteristic, from the five characteristics, without fault and without discrimination, there is no complete affliction.

It is called "-pa". Thus, when practicing the Paramitas, there is naturally no affliction, and the afflictions are thoroughly subdued by the wisdom of discrimination, so there is no affliction. This also corresponds to the various stages. That which is able to separately observe and carry out activities is called thorough subdual. With "This is thorough subdual," etc., it reveals the latter three characteristics starting from the second ground. This is to reveal the characteristic of thorough subdual. Thus, for those six Paramitas, activities are carried out with eight excellent separate observations, therefore it is called thorough subdual. This belongs to the stage of the seventh ground and below. Entering the Dharma position of non-retrogression, that is called the Immovable Ground. With "This is the Immovable Ground," etc., it reveals the fourth characteristic of the Immovable Ground. This is the eighth and ninth grounds, and the meaning of the Immovable Ground is as explained above. In the Sutra Unraveling the Profound Meaning, it says, "From the first ground onwards, it is called the Immovable Ground," which is because the translators have different ideas. That which belongs to the tenth ground and belongs to the Buddha ground is called extreme discrimination. With "This is extreme discrimination," etc., it reveals the fifth characteristic of purity. Thus, at the time of the tenth ground, the cause is excellent, and at the Tathagata ground, the result is excellent and reaches ultimate purity. Therefore, in the treatise Compendium of Abhidharma, it says, "The excellence of completeness is like this: the generosity and other Paramitas possessed in the tenth ground and the Tathagata ground are in order for the sake of completing the Bodhisattva." That is what is said. The difference between these three names is that in the treatise Yogacarabhumi-sastra, it says: "Therefore, because of the firmness of nature, because of extreme brightness, because of possessing five kinds of great fruits, and because of great benefit, it is called thorough subdual. Because of complete non-retrogression and because of special progress, it is called the Immovable Ground. Because the Bodhisattva is supreme among the grounds, it is extreme discrimination."
