Thereafter, one knows the meaning of the three natures as they truly are. The meaning of the three natures is as explained earlier when the three natures were shown. The meaning of no-nature is as follows: to fully know the three no-natures of characteristic, arising, and ultimate reality as they truly are, which is to show the fourth characteristic. The meaning of the three no-natures is also as previously shown. The meaning of conventional truth is as follows: to fully know the five fields of knowledge as they truly are, which is to show the fifth characteristic. Thus, the knowledge that comprehends the five fields of knowledge is called conventional knowledge. The Extensive Hundred Treatise states: "What is conventional truth? It is that which arises from conditions, is merely imputed, is like the objects of illusions, arises from discrimination, is like a dream, and is expressible in words from characteristics, that is called conventional truth." Furthermore, the Distinguishing Treatise states: "What is conventional truth? It is the collection of names, sentences, and letters, and all expressions that arise from relying on their meanings, the meanings that are understood by relying on expressions, and also the worldly mind and mental factors, and the attainment of meaning that relies on them." Furthermore, the Yogācārabhūmi states: "Thus, all that can be expressed by the path of language is called conventional truth." Among these, the five fields of knowledge, inner science is that which fully shows the correct cause and effect, and so on. Logic is that which shows the establishment and so on. Grammar is that which fully shows the characteristics of being skilled in language, and so on. Medicine is that which fully shows the nature of disease and the causes of disease, and so on. Craftsmanship is that which fully shows the work to be done, and so on. In detail, it is as explained in the Yogācārabhūmi. Bodhi

The intention of a Bodhisattva to fully explore the five sciences is as stated in the Treatise on the Stages of Yogic Practice. Therefore, it says in that very text: Why does a Bodhisattva seek learning? Thus, a Bodhisattva seeks inner science in order to truly accomplish it with diligence in accordance with the Dharma, and in order to widely proclaim it to others, he fully seeks the teachings of the Buddha. The reason for fully seeking logic is to fully understand the incorrect statements and incorrect expressions in that very treatise, to defeat opposing debaters, to make those who do not believe in this doctrine believe, and to increase the faith of those who already believe. The reason for seeking grammar is to skillfully use words and letters, and to create faith in oneself among those who are fond of speaking with well-composed expressions, and to engage in applying various terms to the same meaning. The reason for seeking medicine is to pacify the various diseases of sentient beings and to benefit the great assembly of people. The reason for seeking knowledge of worldly crafts and skills is to accomplish the benefit of sentient beings with little effort, to create things that sentient beings cherish, and because knowledge of crafts and skills is gathered by the benefit of generosity. The reason why a Bodhisattva seeks all these five sciences is to perfect the great accumulation of wisdom of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. If one does not train in all of these, one will not gradually attain unobstructed omniscient wisdom. It is said that one should understand it in detail as explained in that very text. The Sutra Teaching Excellent Morality, the Compendium of Treatises, and the Ornament of the Sutras also teach this in essence. The meaning of the ultimate meaning is as follows: "To fully understand the seven suchnesses as they are" and so on are the six characteristics.

It shows. This also has two aspects: showing knowledge from the object of focus, and showing proof through three causes. This is the first. Among these, the supreme is supreme wisdom. The meaning is the meaning of the object. The seven suchnesses, because they are the meaning of the object of supreme wisdom, are called the ultimate truth. This is an explanation in terms of the master. The Noble Perfection of Wisdom Sutra also says, "King of the Gods, whatever is accompanied by verbal expression is called conventional truth. Whatever is devoid of words, the realm of activity of the wisdom of the noble ones, is called ultimate truth." The Treatise of One Hundred Verses, which is extremely extensive, also says, "The ultimate truth is that which is to be known by the noble ones, which cannot be reached by names and words of conceptualization, which is the knowledge within oneself, which does not depend on other conditions, which is without characteristics, which has ceased from terminology, that is called the ultimate truth." Furthermore, because it is without conceptualization and without elaboration, and abides greatly in it in one way, and because it focuses on immeasurable mixed dharmas, and for the sake of higher seeing, this is called the second, showing proof through three causes. This is the wisdom that focuses on the Thus-Gone One himself. Furthermore, by "without conceptualization" and so forth, the nature of true wisdom is shown, without various conceptualizations and elaborations, and abiding greatly in only one way of suchness. The extensive explanation of wisdom should be understood as explained in the Compendium of Abhidharma and the Commentary on the Compendium of the Great Vehicle. "Focusing on immeasurable mixed dharmas" means that the mixed dharma, suchness, is the object of this true wisdom. "Focusing on immeasurable mixed dharmas" also shows the subsequent wisdom. Thus, mixed dharmas are of three kinds: the first is the dharma of small mixture, because it focuses on the twelve branches of scripture, each different. The second is the dharma of great mixture, focusing on the collection of the twelve branches of scripture.
