The phrase "not enduring with a timid mind" indicates the sixth characteristic. Thus, Bodhisattvas do not endure out of fear, such as the fear of kings, etc. Nor do they seek it with a greedy mind, not for the sake of seeking food and drink, but they cultivate patience for other concerns. The Sutra Unraveling the Knots states, "There is no world, and no seeking, in endurance." The Profound Meaning Unraveling Sutra states, "Not enduring with fear and for the sake of food and drink." The phrase "not abandoning those to be benefited" indicates the seventh characteristic. Bodhisattvas constantly benefit sentient beings, not just benefiting them once and being satisfied, so they do not abandon them and do other things; this is to benefit. The Yogacarabhumi-sastra also says, "After benefiting only once, they abandon them, not benefiting them." The Sutra Unraveling the Knots states, "Not abandoning with a mind of constantly benefiting." This is called the seventh characteristic of pure endurance. Thus, the second is the conclusion of explaining the seven characteristics of endurance. From "What Bodhisattva knows as the equality of diligence," the fourth, the seven characteristics of diligence, are shown. This also has two aspects: explanation and conclusion. The explanation is also divided into seven parts by showing the seven characteristics. This is the first, showing the equality of diligence. Among them, the so-called equality is because it is moderate in tightness and looseness. Therefore, the Yogacarabhumi-sastra says, "Moreover, the Bodhisattva does not initiate diligence by being too lazy or too hasty, but acts equally, and all diligent actions are equally respectful. This is the Bodhisattva's equal diligence." The fifth section of the Vinaya also agrees with what is stated in the Yogacarabhumi-sastra.

It appears in the middle. Therefore, in this Vinaya, at that time, twenty million Shravakas requested the Blessed One, "Please, Blessed One, allow us to renounce and receive full ordination." The Blessed One also allowed them to renounce and receive full ordination. Not long after, they practiced diligently in the gatehouse, gardens, and walking places, so that blood flowed from their feet. The twenty million Shravakas thought to themselves, "Among the Blessed One's Shravakas, although there is no one more diligent than me, I have not yet exhausted the roots of all suffering. Since there are many riches and jewels in my house, it would be better to return to lay life and perform meritorious deeds as I please!" The Blessed One, knowing their thoughts, went to them and asked the twenty million Shravakas, "Is it true that you have generated such thoughts?" They replied, "No." The Blessed One said, "I will ask you a question, and you should answer after I have asked the question. When you were at home, were you skilled at playing the lute?" They replied, "Yes, I was skilled." He asked again, "When the strings of the lute are too tight, will the sound be harmonious and pleasant?" They replied, "It will not be pleasant." He asked again, "When the strings of the lute are too loose, will the sound be pleasant and harmonious?" They replied, "It will not be pleasant." "Then how can it be pleasant?" They replied, "If it is neither too tight nor too loose, then it will be pleasant." The Blessed One said, "My Dharma is also like that. One cannot attain the path by being too loose or too tight. Only by abiding in moderate diligence will suffering be exhausted." The twenty million Shravakas, having heard the Blessed One's teachings, immediately became free from all defilements. The details are as described in the sutra itself. It comes from one Vinaya, as well as various Vinayas and the Vinaya Fourth Section, which also mostly teach in this way. The so-called "Having initiated diligence, not praising oneself and disparaging others" is the second diligence that is free from pride.

It has been shown. The bodhisattva's diligence is to benefit others first, how can he consider causing arrogance to others? This is its definition. It is also said in the Yogacarabhumi-sastra: "In order to be free from the arrogance arising from diligence, it is called diligence free from arrogance." Having power, having great diligence, having joy, having steadfast conduct, not abandoning diligence in virtuous dharmas, these are the latter five diligences, namely having power, having great diligence, having joy, having steadfast conduct, and not abandoning diligence in virtuous dharmas. These five words have different interpretations in different treatises. In the Vibhajyavada and the Yogacarabhumi-sastra, only the names of these five words are mentioned, but no explanation is given. In the Abhidharmasamuccaya, only the names of the five aspects are established by meaning, but no explanation is given. In the Vijnaptimatratasiddhi-vimsatika, the Abhidharmasamuccaya, and the Yogacarabhumi-sastra, only the names of the five aspects are established by meaning, and they are combined with the words of the sutra, but no detailed explanation is given. In the Yogacarabhumi-sastra, Samgrahavastu, only the names of the five aspects are established by meaning, and there is an explanation, but it is not combined with the words of the sutra. In the commentary on the Mahayanasamgraha by Asanga and Vasubandhu, both the names of the five aspects are established, and they are combined with the words of the sutra for explanation. Therefore, here, let us temporarily combine the explanations in the Vijnaptimatratasiddhi-vimsatika, the commentary on self-nature, and the Yogacarabhumi-sastra, Samgrahavastu, to explain this sutra. Therefore, the armor, application, non-cowardice, non-contamination, and contentment in the Vijnaptimatratasiddhi-vimsatika are the having power, having diligence, having joy, and having steadfast conduct in the sutra.
