It is said that it becomes so. Furthermore, from that very source, this (referring to the subtle pervasive afflictive obscuration) is the fourth of the ten obscurations, namely the obscuration of subtle afflictions that pervasively arise. It is one aspect of the co-emergent from the obscuration of knowledge. Because the view of the perishable aggregate, etc., which accompanies consciousness, is an extremely inferior aspect, and also because it is focused on what is done by the mental path, and it is called subtle because it is incompatible with manifestation. Thus it is said. It should be understood that the meaning of extreme subtlety is shown in three ways. It obstructs the Dharma that is in accordance with the aspects of enlightenment of the fourth ground, and entering the fourth ground is to be abandoned forever. Previously, it mostly arose with the nature of the consciousness grasping at self and what belongs to self as one's own, etc. Therefore, it is shown as the name of affliction. Here, when the Dharma that is in accordance with the unpolluted aspects of enlightenment is obtained on the fourth ground, it is abandoned forever. Therefore, the view of self, etc., will also no longer pervasively arise. The practice of generosity, discipline, and patience on the first, second, and third grounds is the same as the worldly. But those who have obtained the Dharma that is in accordance with the aspects of enlightenment on the fourth ground, because it is transcendental, both views of the perishable aggregate will be completely destroyed forever. How is it known that this (view of the perishable aggregate) is associated with consciousness and afflicted mind? Because the view of self, etc., is incompatible with the unpolluted path, and it does not arise at all above the eighth ground, and above the seventh ground it pervasively arises and acts as the basis of affliction, this is coarse, that is subtle, and there is a sequence of suppression, this is only associated with consciousness, and the words such as the view of the perishable aggregate also include the obscuration of knowledge from beginningless time, craving for meditative absorption, and craving for Dharma. Because craving for meditative absorption and craving for Dharma can even increase the three grounds, so when entering the fourth ground, it is completely abandoned, that is, the aspect of enlightenment.

Because it is very incompatible with the intention. The fifth bhumi has two kinds of pervasive ignorance: the pervasive ignorance of focusing on not turning to samsara at all, and the pervasive ignorance of focusing on turning to nirvana at all. The so-called unfavorable aspect of its basis refers to the manifestation of the obstacles of the fifth bhumi, which is extremely difficult to overcome. In the Treatise on Establishing Consciousness-Only, it says: This is the stage of gradually becoming extremely disgusted with samsara and having faith in nirvana. Among the three obstacles, this fifth bhumi is the obstacle to the nirvana of the Lesser Vehicle. From one aspect of the co-emergent from the obstacle of knowledge, one is extremely weary of samsara and has faith in nirvana, so the lower vehicle is the same as the two, weary of suffering and stopping it. Therefore, it obstructs the path of non-difference of the fifth bhumi, and it is said that it is initially abandoned upon entering the fifth bhumi. Because the four truths are practiced on the fifth bhumi, therefore, for those four truths, one enters the path of non-difference as the cause and effect of universal contamination and purification, so one abandons the pervasive ignorance of not turning and turning. The sixth bhumi has two kinds of pervasive ignorance: the pervasive ignorance of individually contemplating the manifestation of the arising of actions, and the pervasive ignorance of the complete arising of many signs. The so-called unfavorable aspect of its basis refers to the manifestation of the obstacles of the sixth bhumi. In the Treatise on Establishing Consciousness-Only, it says: The pervasive ignorance of individually contemplating the manifestation of the arising of actions refers to the clinging to the existence of universal contamination here, because the arising of actions is included in the aspect of universal contamination. The so-called pervasive ignorance of the complete arising of many signs refers to the clinging to the existence of purification here, because one takes the sign of purification. The complete arising of many signs is said to be unable to abide many times in the place obscured by the signless. Among them, the first pervasive ignorance is suffering.
