They do not abide in Nirvana. For the sake of the latter three pāramitās, it is said that they do not abide in saṃsāra. In detail, as explained in that very text. This is the second cause. Furthermore, it is said in that very text that there are only six, for the sake of gathering and benefiting sentient beings, and for being the antidote to afflictions. This shows that it is in accordance with the third in this very sūtra, and it is shown that it is spoken of as six with two meanings, this is the third cause. Some say that there are also those who show that it is neither many nor few with four meanings. As it is explained in the Treatise on the Establishment of Consciousness-Only. In that very treatise, it is shown with three meanings. First, in showing that the number of ten pāramitās is neither many nor few, there are also two meanings: in order to completely eliminate the ten obscurations, and in order to manifest the ten suchnesses. Second, in showing that the number of six pāramitās is neither many nor few, there are also four meanings: First, relying on the three causes, in order to completely eliminate the six kinds of opposing obscurations, in order to gradually accomplish the Buddha's dharmas, and in order to gradually ripen sentient beings. In detail, as explained in that very text. Second, relying on the two paths, namely, the path of higher realms and the path of definite goodness. It is in accordance with what is explained from the first chapter in the Compendium of Abhidharma. Third, benefiting sentient beings and completely eliminating obscurations, in accordance with what is said in this very sūtra. Fourth, showing neither many nor few with the path of non-abiding, namely, for the sake of the first three, not abiding in Nirvana, and for the sake of the latter three, not abiding in saṃsāra. In detail, as explained in that very text. In the Compendium of the Great Vehicle Treatise, only the first three are shown, namely, gradually completely eliminating obscurations, accomplishing the Buddha's dharmas, and ripening sentient beings. In the Compendium of Abhidharma, the meaning of only the latter three, and the two paths, etc., are shown.

To. From the treatise "Vijnaptimatrata-siddhi," in order to summarize the meaning of the two treatises, it is generally explained in six ways, so it becomes the four conditions. Also, from the treatise "Vijnaptimatrata-siddhi," the conditions are divided into six types to explain, because the three causes explained in the "Mahayana-samgraha" are separated. The two conditions mentioned in this sutra are as described in the treatises "Abhidharma-samuccaya" and "Vijnaptimatrata-siddhi," and if examined, it can be understood. The third is to explain that the number of the four Paramitas is neither more nor less, and it will be explained when directly quoting the sutra text. In the treatise "Sutra-alamkara," six verses are used to explain the reasons for the six classifications, in order to summarize the three bases for benefiting oneself, in order to summarize the six ways of benefiting oneself and others, in order to summarize the six bases for benefiting oneself and others, in order to summarize the four causes of Mahayana, in order to summarize the six paths of Mahayana, and in order to summarize the three learnings of Mahayana. If examined, it can be understood, so it will not be explained in detail. The Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara also prayed to the Bhagavan in this way: Bhagavan, why should the other Paramitas be determined to be four? From this point onwards is the second part, explaining that the number of the latter four Paramitas is neither more nor less. These four refer to the latter four Paramitas among the ten Paramitas, namely, skillful means, aspiration, power, and wisdom. This also has two aspects, namely, questioning and answering. This is the initial question about the reason for the four numbers. The Bhagavan said to the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara: Son of good family, because they become the companions of the previous six Paramitas, etc., this is the second part, explaining the Tathagata's correct answer. This also has two aspects, from the sutra text of the answer of neither more nor less than four numbers.
