The meaning of completely holding, the meaning of nourishing, the meaning of cause, and the meaning of perfect completeness. Therefore, in that very treatise, it says: "Accumulation means the meaning of complete perfection, because it makes the accumulation of Bodhi completely perfect. It is also the meaning of completely holding, because it makes the Dharma of Bodhi completely held. It is also the meaning of nourishing, because it makes the Dharma of Bodhi completely nourished. It is also the meaning of cause, because it makes the Dharma of Bodhi arise. It is also the meaning of perfect completeness of many branches, because it makes the Dharma of Bodhi perfectly complete, so it is called accumulation." As it appears, the details are as explained in that very treatise. Among them, regarding mutual support, since the explanations in various scriptures are different, they are summarized and explained in eight ways. The first is that the first three are merit, and the last three are wisdom. As it is said in the commentary on the Compendium of the Great Vehicle by Master Asanga: "Among them, the accumulation of merit is like this: giving, discipline, and patience, whichever of these three actions. The accumulation of wisdom is like this: diligence, meditation, the wisdom of hearing, and so on." As it appears. Furthermore, in the commentary on the Noble Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, it says: "If you want to achieve unsurpassed Bodhi, there are two doors, namely the doors of merit and wisdom. Among them, giving, discipline, and patience are the doors of merit. The wisdom of knowing the nature of suchness of all dharmas is the door of wisdom. Wisdom also needs to rely on the cause of meditation, and meditation must rely on the power of great diligence." As it is explained. The second is that the first two and the fourth are merit, and the last two and the third are wisdom. As it is said in the chapter established in the Sutra of Teaching the Meditation of the Virtuous Son: "Giving, discipline, and diligence are called the establishment of merit. Patience, meditation, and wisdom are called the establishment of wisdom."

As it is said in the scriptures. The third case is that the first two are merit, and the last one is wisdom. The third case belongs to both, as it is said in the Ornament of Sutras: "How do the two accumulations gather the six perfections?" In the verses it says: "The first two are the accumulation of merit, the sixth is wisdom, the other three are the cause of the two accumulations, and the five are also the accumulation of wisdom." Like this, in the explanation of this very text, it says: "Generosity and discipline are the nature of merit, wisdom is the nature of wisdom, patience, diligence, and meditation are the cause of the two accumulations, because they are the doers of both. These five also become the accumulation of wisdom, because they are embraced by wisdom." Like this, it is explained in detail there. The fourth case is that the first three are merit, the last one is wisdom, and the others belong to both. Like this sutra, as well as the Sutra of Discrimination of Boundaries, the Sandhinirmocana Sutra, the Sutra of Good Conduct, the Treatise on the Grounds, the Commentary on the Compendium of the Mahayana (by Vasubandhu and Asanga), the Chapter on the Transformation of Lanka, and as it is said in the Yogacarabhumi. The fifth case is that the first five are merit, and the last one is wisdom. As it is said in the Gaya Sutra: "The path that becomes a companion is the five perfections, and the path that becomes abandonment is the perfection of wisdom." As it is said like this, and also in the Commentary on the Holy Perfection of Wisdom, it says: "The five perfections are the generation of merit, and the perfection of wisdom is the extreme removal of the mind's existing clinging." As it is said like this. The sixth case is that the first five are merit, and the last one includes both merit and wisdom. As it is said in the Chapter on the Lion's Roar in the Great Nirvana Sutra: "What is meant by being adorned with merit is this, starting from the perfection of generosity, to

That is the prajñāpāramitā. That which is not adorned with pāramitā and wisdom is like this: any one from the first bhūmi to the tenth bhūmi. It appears like this. Among them, 'bhūmi' refers to wisdom. Therefore, in the commentary on the Mahāyānasaṃgraha by the teacher Asanga, it is said: 'What is the state of knowledge of dharma-nairātmya? That is called 'bhūmi'.' Seventh, the first five are merit, and the sixth is wisdom. As it is said in the Ornament of the Sūtras: 'As it is said, the five are also a collection of wisdom.' It is like this, because later it is completely dedicated to the bhūmi of wisdom, all the pāramitās also become a collection of wisdom. It is shown like this, the five pāramitās are not only merit, but also belong to the collection of wisdom. It is like this, because it is completely dedicated to wisdom. Eighth, giving, ethics, and meditation are merit. Wisdom is wisdom. Patience and diligence both belong to both. As it is said in the chapter on wisdom from within the Bodhisattva Piṭaka Sūtra: 'How does one become skilled in the two accumulations? That is, one who is skilled in merit and wisdom. What is merit? That is, the practice of giving and ethics. What is wisdom? That is, the knowledge that is gathered by completely practicing wisdom.' It is said like this, in detail as it is shown therein. Or, all six pāramitās belong to both merit and wisdom. Because each pāramitā helps each other, each possesses the six individually. In the sūtras and treatises, various different ways are shown according to the faculties, and there is no contradiction. The fifty-eighth chapter. The Bodhisattva Avalokiteśvara again requested the Blessed One, saying: 'Blessed One, how should a Bodhisattva view these six bases of training?' From here onwards is the fourth, showing the learning of the six pāramitās with five aspects.
