When entering into meditative absorption, there is no mental activity, but before the samadhi, the emanation is shown by the power of mental activity. This is also the same, it is the dharma of the mind arising from the power of wisdom in the stage of the cause. Furthermore, in the commentary on the Mahāyānasaṃgraha translated by Laṅka, it says: The Blessed One has done, will do, and is doing the work of benefiting others, but in these three times, there is no intention of manifest activity, and although there is no manifest activity, the work of benefiting others will be manifestly accomplished. For example, like the wish-fulfilling jewel and the drum of the gods, although there is no mental activity, all the objects of action will be manifestly accomplished. Furthermore, in the commentary on the Mahāyānasaṃgraha by the teacher Asaṅga, it says: If the fruit of Buddhahood, which is manifestly accomplished from the cultivation of non-conceptual wisdom, becomes non-conceptual, then how does one do the work of benefiting sentient beings? Like the wish-fulfilling jewel and the drum of the gods, without thought, their own actions are accomplished. Although the Buddhas have accomplished various deeds, they constantly have no intentions. Thus it is said. In the commentary on this very text, it says: In this verse, the two examples of the wish-fulfilling jewel and the drum of the gods explain that those who have attained non-conceptual wisdom, although they have no non-conceptual effort, various deeds are manifestly accomplished. For example, the wish-fulfilling jewel and the drum of the gods do not have the thought, 'I will emit light,' or 'I will produce sound,' but according to the power of the aspirations of the meritorious actions of those sentient beings, and without relying on being struck, they emit various lights and produce various sounds. Likewise, the Buddhas are also the same. Although they are free from the effort of conceptualization, they manifest various objects of benefit according to the power of the aspirations of the meritorious actions of those sentient beings to be tamed, thus manifestly accomplishing them. It is said that this is how it appears in the commentary by the teacher Vasubandhu, and also in the commentary translated by Laṅka.
