It refers to the person who holds it. The term "ordinary being" (Skt. pṛthagjana) is used because they are born from holding different views. The term "body of bad destination" refers to the realm of ignorance, where the five aggregates with outflows are manifested by the two obscurations, and because it follows bad destinations, it is called the "body of bad destination." The term "manifest clinging to the distinctions of the self-nature of phenomena and persons" refers to the two clingings: the generation of manifest clinging to the distinctions of the self-nature of phenomena in the body of bad destination, and the generation of manifest clinging to the distinctions of the self-nature of persons, which are called the two clingings to self and phenomena. Regarding "because the latent tendencies are objectified by incorrect views," latent tendencies are a type of seed. The seeds of the two clingings are called latent tendencies. Therefore, in the treatise *Establishment of Consciousness Only*, the habitual patterns of the two clingings are called latent tendencies, which follow sentient beings, and the ālaya-vijñāna is latent, and because faults increase, it is called latent tendency. This is the seed of the obscurations of knowledge and afflictions. In relation to these arising, the two clingings to self and phenomena are completely taught. The phrase "clinging to self or what belongs to self," and so forth, means that by the power of the seeds of previous arising, in this life, one clings to self and what belongs to self. Because of clinging to self and what belongs to self, from "I see" up to the arising of conceptual thoughts such as "I tame myself." Seventy-fourth fascicle. If someone truly understands in this way, they will completely abandon the body of bad destination, become a non-abode of all afflictions, be extremely pure, free from elaborations, become a state of the unconditioned, and attain effortless attainment, which shows the benefit of the third comprehension. Among these, "truly understands" means that as shown above, sentient beings and phenomena are emptiness.

Having fully understood the two kinds of wisdom, one will gain benefits by knowing the meaning of the two kinds of emptiness as they truly are. Completely abandoning the body of bad rebirths, and all afflictions being non-places, refers to the gradual pacification of suffering and the combination of the pacification of afflictions. Therefore, in the "Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra," it is said: The nature of nirvāṇa should be known as pacification, because all the many sufferings are forever pacified, and all afflictions are forever pacified. Furthermore, in the "Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra," it is said: In the future, having completely abandoned the various sufferings of future rebirths, in the future, having attained the nature of non-arising, it is called the pacification of many sufferings. Having forever abandoned all afflictions, and ultimately attaining the nature of non-arising, it is called the pacification of afflictions. Utterly pure, free from all elaborations, refers to nirvāṇa being the characteristic of the transformation of the basis. Therefore, in the "Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra," it is said: In the realm of nirvāṇa without remainder, how should the transformed basis of complete nirvāṇa be described? Answer: It is the characteristic of non-elaboration and the characteristic of utter purity. Furthermore, in the "Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra," it is said: The characteristic of nirvāṇa is like this: the characteristic of peace and the characteristic of non-elaboration. It should be known that internally, each is the characteristic of self-awareness alone. Having become the unconditioned state, effortlessly attaining it, refers to attaining the unconditioned dharmakāya. Therefore, in the "Vyākhyā-śāstra," it is said: Abiding in the unconditioned dharmakāya, although there is no effort of exertion, yet drawn by the power of past aspirations, naturally and spontaneously accomplishing all the deeds of the Tathāgatas, just as yogis arise from the samādhi of cessation. Furthermore, in the "Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra," it is said: If the realm of nirvāṇa without remainder is without obscurations, how

Just as the Tathagata has no obscurations, if the Arhat also has no obscurations, why doesn't the Arhat also perform the deeds of the Tathagata? Answer: Because they have not cultivated aspiration in the past, and they are not such rational beings, Arhats only have the thought of not arising, and they are completely liberated from suffering, therefore they do not perform the deeds of the Buddhas. When does the realm of non-proliferation enter any number, how does it manifest? Answer: In the past, with the power of correct aspiration and cultivating such a path, it is like one who enters cessation samadhi arising from samadhi. Although there is no thought of "arising", due to the power of past habituation, they arise, and again they act like performing with-mind actions. This should also be viewed in the same way. It is said in the sutra that the Holy Golden Light Sutra also shows in meaning that it is in accordance with what is said in this sutra. Son of the lineage, this is called the meaning of the uncommon Dharani briefly indicated, this is called the second general conclusion, it is only a particle. Thereafter, the Bhagavan also spoke these verses, what follows shows the second repeated explanation with verses. This also has two aspects, namely the introduction of the verses and the correct explanation with the verses themselves. This is the first. "All defilements are completely purified dharmas, all are without agents and without persons, therefore I have said that they are free from my actions, these are not the before and after of all defilements." And so on, showing the second correct explanation with the verses themselves. This can also be divided into three types by the very existence of the three verses. To this, the first verse repeats the correct reasoning. The middle verse repeats the faults of grasping due to ignorance. All the verses are repetitions of the qualities of understanding, this is the first. The words of this sutra also have two aspects, namely the first half verse is the emptiness of person.
