Show your state. The latter half of the verse shows the state of emptiness of Dharma. Another explanation is that the words of this sutra can be divided into three types: The first sentence shows the universally afflicted and completely purified Dharma in general. The next sentence distinguishes and shows the two types of emptiness. The latter two sentences show the two types of emptiness simultaneously. Single words and combined words should be treated appropriately as shown above. Due to adverse circumstances, the body's habits lie dormant and arise. By setting a goal, one clings to self and what belongs to self. Therefore, falsely seeing "I" etc., "I" and the eater, and affliction and complete purification are the same. This shows the fault of the second clinging due to ignorance. Whoever correctly and completely understands can abandon the body of adverse circumstances, and universal affliction and complete purification are without elaboration, and the unconditioned is attained without effort. This shows the benefit of the third understanding. The first sentence is only expressed through this sutra itself. Then, Bodhisattva Mahasattva Manjushri also said this to the Bhagavan. "Bhagavan, how should the characteristics of the minds of the Tathagatas be understood?" From this point onwards, it is the second showing the characteristics of the Sambhogakaya of the Tathagatas. This can also be divided into seven types: showing the characteristics of the mind arising from the truly complete enjoyment body of the Tathagatas, showing the characteristics of the distinctions of the Tathagatas' field of activity, showing the characteristics of the three types of perfect complete enlightenment etc. as non-dual, showing the distinctions of the Tathagatas as the object of sentient beings, showing the distinctions of the Dharmakaya of the Tathagatas and the liberated body of the two vehicles, showing that the Tathagatas and Bodhisattvas, through the power of blessings, hold the bodies of sentient beings, and showing the characteristics of what is difficult to obtain and what exists in pure and impure fields.

I am of two kinds: the nature of the arising of the mind of the Sambhogakaya being truly shown, and whether or not the Nirmanakaya possesses mind being shown. The first is also divided into four kinds: asking questions, answering, teaching, and explaining. This is the first question about the nature of the arising of the mind of the Sambhogakaya. How does this reveal the Sambhogakaya? It is said that because after that it will be shown that the Nirmanakaya both has and does not have mind, therefore the teaching of mind here should be understood as revealing the Sambhogakaya. The Blessed One said to the Bodhisattva Manjushri: Son of good family, although the Tathagata is distinguished by mind, intellect, and consciousness, nevertheless, the Tathagatas arise in the Dharma of mind without effort, and this thing should be known as like an illusion. This is the second, the Tathagata's true answer. This sutra text is also of two kinds: showing that the Tathagata does not have the effort of discriminating with mind, intellect, and consciousness, and showing that the Tathagata also arises in the Dharma of mind without effort. The meaning of mind, intellect, and consciousness is also of two kinds: with defilements and without defilements. The mind with defilements is also of two kinds: the first is the specific name of mind, intellect, and consciousness, the alaya-consciousness is called mind, the afflicted mind is called intellect, and the six consciousnesses are called consciousness. The second is the general name for all eight consciousnesses, which are called mind, intellect, and consciousness. Therefore, in the Treatise on the Establishment of Mere Consciousness, it is said: Thus, the Blessed One has separately explained the different meanings of these three, mind, intellect, and consciousness, in those sutras, because it arises from accumulation, it is called mind; because of thinking, it is called intellect; because of discriminating knowledge, it is called consciousness. Although these three meanings pervade all eight consciousnesses, they follow the main one.

Therefore, it is said in the sutra that the alaya-vijnana is called the mind because it accumulates seeds and causes phenomena to arise. The afflicted mind is called the mind because it focuses on the alaya-vijnana and so on, and constantly clings to self and so on. The other six are called consciousnesses because consciousness arises when there is movement and interruption of reason. Furthermore, as it is said in the verses of the "Holy Lankavatara Sutra": The alaya is called the mind, the nature of thinking is called the mind, the characteristic of the object is called discernment, that is called consciousness. Thus it is declared. Furthermore, in the "Tathagata Guṇavyūha Sutra" it is said: The Tathagata's stainless consciousness. Some sutras say: The transcendental mind. Some sutras say: The name of mind can comprehend all situations, therefore, the state of Buddhahood is also called consciousness and so on. In this sutra, it is spoken of in terms of the defiled, discriminating mind, mind, and consciousness. It is said in the sutra that the Tathagata is not distinguished by mind, mind, and consciousness, but it is not that there is no undefiled mind, mind, and consciousness. In the "Dharma Samgraha Sutra" it is said: Mind, mind, and consciousness refer to the discriminating mind. Furthermore, in the "Bodhi-sambhāraka-śāstra" it is said: Mind, mind, and consciousness refer to the discriminator who clings to characteristics. However, the Tathagatas can effortlessly generate the Dharma of mind, because the Tathagatas do not have discriminating attention, but by the power of the wisdom of the previous causal position, they can effortlessly generate the Dharma of mind, like an emanation. By the power of samadhi, it can manifest as one thinks in the heart, and not by the power of discriminating attention. Another explanation is that the true samadhi
