Whatever is accompanied by mind. Being accompanied by a mind of loving-kindness means wishing to bestow the implements of happiness upon sentient beings who are without suffering and without happiness, and because it is endowed with a mind that corresponds to what the mind desires. Immeasurable compassion is like this: whatever mind is accompanied by compassion. A mind accompanied by compassion is wishing to liberate sentient beings who are suffering from the cause of suffering, and because it is endowed with a mind that corresponds to what the mind desires. Immeasurable joy is like this: whatever mind is accompanied by joy. A mind accompanied by joy is like this: rejoicing in the joy of those sentient beings who possess happiness, and because it is endowed with a mind that corresponds to what the mind desires. Immeasurable equanimity is like this: whatever mind is accompanied by equanimity. Whatever mind is accompanied by equanimity is desiring without attachment, and because it is endowed with a mind that corresponds to what the mind desires. Thus it is said. Regarding the explanation of its nature, the Sarvastivada school holds that, as stated in the Great Treatise on Specific Exposition, there are two explanations for immeasurable loving-kindness and compassion. Therefore, in that very treatise, some say that both loving-kindness and compassion are the nature of the root of virtue that is without hatred, because they are the antidote to hatred. If one also takes the corresponding concomitants, then in the desire realm there are four aggregates, and in the form realm there are five aggregates. The difference between them is that loving-kindness is the antidote to the hatred of taking life, and compassion is the antidote to the hatred of beating and so on. Some say that loving-kindness is the nature of the root of virtue that is without hatred, and compassion is the nature of the root of virtue that is non-harming, because they are the antidote to harming. Regarding the nature of immeasurable joy, there are also four explanations. Some say that joy is the nature of the faculty of joy, and the four aggregates and five aggregates should also be understood as before. If immeasurable joy is the nature of the faculty of joy,

Then, how is it reasonable what is said in the treatise *Explanation of the Aspects of the Teachings*? As it is said, what is immeasurable joy? It is like this: the feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness that are in accordance with joy and joy, as well as the two actions of body and speech that are aroused by it, and the formations that are aroused by it and are in accordance with the mind, are called joy. As it is said. Then, is this feeling of joy also in accordance with feeling? Answer: This statement should be said as follows: the perception, formation, and consciousness that are in accordance with joy and joy are a kind of feeling, which is due to the error of the reciters. Furthermore, in that treatise, the five aggregates are generally shown to be the nature of immeasurable joy. Although the feeling of joy is not in accordance with feeling, the mind and mental factors are in accordance with feeling, so there is no contradiction in saying so. Some teachers say that this immeasurable joy is the nature of faith, although it is not the feeling of faith, but another mental factor is in accordance with the mind. Some say that it is in accordance with the root of joy, and some say that it is born under the root of joy. If combined with these statements, there is no contradiction even if it is in accordance with the feeling of joy. Equanimity is the nature of the root of virtue of non-attachment, and the four aggregates and five aggregates should also be understood in the same way as before. In the Treasury Treatise, it is said that among the four aspects, the first two say that it is self-nature and non-existence, and in the true sense, compassion is non-harming. Joy is feeling. Equanimity is non-attachment. The retinue is the five aggregates. In the treatise that conforms to correct reasoning, it is also said that the three immeasurables are in accordance with what is said in the Treasury Treatise. Joy is the nature of faith, which is the same as what some teachers said in the *Great Discourse on Distinctions*. Or it is shown as the nature of non-attachment. Differentiating with questions and answers.
