It is like that. Some say that the first three belong to the near division of the ground, and the stages of the ten grounds. Because whatever exists belongs to all stages. Others are as previously stated. Some say that all four belong to all stages. As it is said in the Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra: "What is the practice of accomplishing what is needed? It is entering into the essence of meditation and samāpatti, or practicing from worldly meditation to transcendental meditation, which is called the practice of accomplishing what is needed." Thus it is taught. In many grounds in the commentary and the Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra, and also in the Śrāvakabhūmi, it is also said in this way. Some say that all of the above is not contrary to reason. If this sutra is combined with what is said below, then in the near division of the ground, there are only the first two. In the ten grounds, the first three are possessed. In the Buddha ground, all four are fully possessed. Therefore, in the sutra below, it says: "He has previously obtained two kinds of objects, and now because of seeing the path, he has also obtained the object of the limit of things." And so on, "He will manifest the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment." It also says: "He also obtains the object of accomplishing what is needed." The details are as taught in that sutra. Does the image of the undefiled mind appear or not? If it is said that it does not appear, then how should we understand and explain what is said in the Abhidharmasamuccaya? If it is said that the image appears, then how should we explain what is said in the Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi-śāstra: "When one does not perceive objects with consciousness, then..."? Answer:

When focusing on that, one abides solely in consciousness. Because there is no characteristic of the two graspers. Thus it is said. In the commentary on this, it is stated that when a Bodhisattva does not focus with wisdom on the objects to be focused upon, at that time, in order not to take the characteristics of various elaborations, it is said, and it is explained extensively. Furthermore, some say in that very text that the two parts of this consciousness are both unspeakable, because there is no characteristic of the grasped and the grasper. Some say that both the cause and the view of this consciousness arise from that which is accompanied by its characteristic, therefore it is called focusing. If even without a cause it is called focusing, then consciousness of forms and so on would also become known as consciousness of sounds and so on. If there is no aspect of view, then one would not be able to focus either. How then is it said that there is consciousness that focuses on suchness, since the very nature of suchness is not said to be the act of focusing? Therefore, it must be said that there is definitely an aspect of view in this. Some say that this consciousness has a view but no cause, so it is said to be without characteristics, because of taking and not taking characteristics. Although there is an aspect of view, it is said to be non-grasping because there is no conceptualization, but it is not that there is absolutely no grasped. Although there is no aspect of cause, it is said of this that it arises from that which is accompanied by the characteristic of suchness, because it is inseparable from suchness. How is it that when one focuses on the aspect of view in the aspect of one's own conceptualization, just as one can focus even without completely transforming, so too is this the case. If one focuses after completely transforming,

It is said that the wisdom of the noble ones is for the sake of directly seeing the object. Some say that this wisdom has two components, and the idea of the Sutra says that the characteristics of suchness are similar, because the self-nature of suchness of suchness is not seen. It is as explained extensively from there. Although there are various kinds of explanations, if combined with the treatise of Teacher Dharmapala, then non-conceptual wisdom has a view but no reason. It is said that all later attained wisdoms have both view and reason. In short, how should the treatise Abhidharma Samuccaya be understood and explained? Among them, the non-conceptual image is as follows: suchness mental engagement, whether it is the object of calm abiding and insight. Suchness mental engagement is solely the supramundane and post-attainment mental engagement, if it is said so. The answer is: Teacher Asanga said suchness mental engagement, but did not say supramundane wisdom, therefore, the words such as supramundane are the idea of Teacher Realized Lion, not what Asanga said, therefore there is no contradiction between each other. Thirty-sixth fascicle. Bodhisattva Maitreya again said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, how does a Bodhisattva rely on the four objects of calm abiding and insight, seek calm abiding, and be skilled in vipassanā? From here on, it is the third door of distinguishing the seeking of calm abiding and insight. This can also be divided into two types: asking and answering, this is asking. There are also two intentions in asking, the first is how does a Bodhisattva rely on the four objects of calm abiding and insight, and ask about seeking calm abiding. The second is asking how to become skilled in vipassanā. Among them, seeking and being skilled also
