The place mentioned refers to the entity here that possesses all things and their very nature. What is said as "purpose fully accomplished" refers to the entity here where cause and effect are interconnected. Therefore, it should be known that the pervasive object of focus is purified by trustworthy scriptures and possesses reason; this is called the pervasive object of focus. The specific names for it also differ according to the teachings. As stated in the *Abhidharmasamuccaya*: "Whatever objects of focus are used for calming and insight meditation through aspiration and attention are called images with conceptualization, because they are objects of focus for mundane attention." "Whatever objects of focus are used for calming and insight meditation through suchness attention are called images without conceptualization, because they are objects of focus for supramundane attention and subsequent attainment." The nature of phenomena is limited to just these, such as the aggregates, elements, and sense bases; this is called the object of focus on the limit of things. Because it becomes the object of focus for attaining transformation, it is called the object of focus of fully accomplished purpose, as explained in detail in that very text. Furthermore, in the *Yogācārabhūmi*: "Among them, an image with conceptualization is as follows: with aspects of discursive insight meditation on the ground of meditative stabilization, one observes, distinguishes, fully understands, and thoroughly examines an image that corresponds to the object of knowledge. Among them, the object of knowledge is as follows: whatever object of focus is for taming behavior, for skillfulness, or for taming afflictions, because those appear similar to the object of knowledge, it is reasonably called an image that corresponds to the object of knowledge, because the yogi fully examines those; when truly understanding that nature, one will definitely understand the qualities and faults.

That which is called "image with conceptualization" refers to an image that is accompanied by conceptualization. The "image without conceptualization" is like this: a yogi fully grasps the characteristics of an image, but does not observe, does not discriminate, does not extremely discriminate, does not fully understand, does not fully examine, yet the mind that does not abandon that object is truly pacified in the state of calm abiding; this is called "image without conceptualization." The "limit of things" refers to whatever is focused on the suchness of what exists and the suchness of how it exists. The suchness of what exists is like this: the aggregates, the elements, the sense bases, and the four noble truths. The suchness of how it exists is like this: whatever is focused on reality, suchness, and the four logical principles. Among these, the "complete accomplishment of purpose" is like this: a yogi constantly relies on and cultivates calm abiding and insight, and the mental activity focused on the image that has been cultivated is completely perfected; because of that complete perfection, one is transformed from all bad rebirths and arises exceedingly, and because the rebirth is completely transformed, one truly transcends the image, and for the knowable thing itself, non-conceptual wisdom and direct vision manifest, and one abides in the first dhyana. When dhyana is attained, from the realm of the first dhyana to the realm of neither perception nor non-perception, one abides, and up to whatever is focused on the realm of the great abiding of that abiding, these are said to be the "complete accomplishment of purpose." The details are as explained in that very text. These four are the four types of mental activity explained in the eleven types of mental activity in the "Yogacarabhumi-sastra," namely: mental activity focused on the image with conceptualization, mental activity focused on the image without conceptualization, and mental activity focused on the limit of things.
