In order to be able to generate Bodhicitta, it is said that Bodhicitta arises. This refers to the first of the five (Bodhicittas), namely the two Bodhicittas. Some say that this refers to the third, namely the Bodhicitta of wisdom. Why? Because the teacher Vajra Sramana said that it is for the Bodhisattva of the first bhumi to generate Bodhicitta. Or, "completely seeking" refers to combining with the five types of completely seeking minds, and merely abiding in the stage of cause. The thirty Shravakas, through the phrase "abandoning dust and being free from defilement, obtaining a pure Dharma eye for all dharmas," show the second benefit, namely the benefit of abandoning dust and being free from defilement. By hearing this teaching, two benefits will be obtained: the benefit of abandoning dust and being free from defilement, and the benefit of obtaining a pure Dharma eye. These two benefits have different explanations in different teachings, so in the Mahavibhasa Shastra, it is said that as the Sutra says, when the Blessed One proclaimed this Dharma discourse, the venerable Kaundinya and eighty thousand sons of the gods abandoned dust and were free from defilement, and a pure Dharma eye arose for them regarding all dharmas. Among them, "abandoning dust" refers to abandoning latent tendencies. "Being free from defilement" refers to being free from all entanglements. "For all dharmas" refers to the four noble truths. "A pure Dharma eye arose" refers to the fact that because of seeing the four noble truths, a pure Dharma eye arose. In the Abhidharmasamuccaya, as the Sutra says, "abandoning dust and being free from defilement, a pure Dharma eye arose for all dharmas," this is spoken from the perspective of the path of seeing. Dharma-ksanti abandons dust, and Dharma-jnana is free from defilement. This is because, by the power of these, at the very beginning, a supreme noble eye arises for the truths, thereby realizing their nature. Dharma-ksanti abandons dust.

This is because, with the patience of the Dharma, one can permanently abandon all the dust of afflictions. To be free from defilement through the wisdom of the Dharma means that those who know the Dharma abandon the defilement of obscurations, because the basis and attainment arise. Furthermore, the circumstances of the two, patience and wisdom, should be explained in order, because of becoming completely known and permanently abandoned, and because the path and attainment become completely pure, therefore it is said that by relying on this, one abandons dust and is free from defilement. It is also said in the Compendium of Abhidharma: "What is called becoming completely known and permanently abandoned, and the path and attainment becoming completely pure, is the general explanation of the purity of the Dharma eye." In the Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra, it is also said that what is called abandoning dust and being free from defilement, dust is like this: the path that obstructs and interrupts the arising of ultimate wisdom and direct realization, and the manifest arising of the conceit of 'I am' without interruption. Defilement is like this: the faults of the aspect to be abandoned by seeing, because it does not exist here at all, therefore it is called abandoning dust and being free from defilement. Furthermore, what is called dust is like this: all the afflictions to be abandoned by the conceit of 'I am' and by seeing, are the defilement of the faults of both aspects. What is called dharmas is like this: the purity that abides in its own characteristics and general characteristics. What is called the Dharma eye is like this: the wisdom of directly experiencing what is truly as it is. What is called seeing the Dharma is like this: because of seeing suffering and so on as they truly are. What is called hearing the Dharma is like this: in order to obtain a reward that is in accordance with the fruit of a renunciate, as explained extensively in that very scripture. Furthermore, in the Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra, it is also said that it should be known that with two characteristics, the eye of wisdom of the noble ones will become pure, that is, because of abandoning dust and being free from defilement. And all the entanglements of the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing.
