The chapter on the ground. This is the first. Thus, the name of this teaching is called "Explanation of the Meaning of the Definitive Truth." Therefore, this name should be fully utilized as it is. This is the concluding remark. When explaining the Explanation of the Meaning of the Definitive Truth, from that great assembly, six hundred thousand beings generated the mind of unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment, etc. This is the second, showing the particularly excellent benefits of teaching the Dharma. There are four kinds of excellent benefits, so from that (sutra) they are divided into four kinds. This is the first benefit. If combined with the treatise "Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra," it is said that there are five kinds of benefits. Therefore, from that (treatise), it should be understood that these five are the vast benefits of the fruit of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas teaching the Dharma to sentient beings. What are the five? From those (five), some sentient beings, at the very time of teaching the holy Dharma, will generate the Dharma-eye, which is without dust and free from defilement, towards all dharmas. From those (five), some sentient beings, at the very moment of teaching the holy Dharma, will attain the exhaustion of outflows. From those (five), some sentient beings will generate the mind towards unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment. From those (five), some sentient beings, at the very moment of hearing the holy Dharma, will attain the supreme forbearance of a Bodhisattva. The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas teach the holy Dharma, and by means of recitation and reading, and by practicing correctly, in a manner of transmission from one to another, they cause the principles of the holy Dharma to abide for a long time. It should be understood that these five are the vast benefits of the fruit of teaching the Dharma. This is what is said in the sutra. This sutra teaches four kinds of benefits, lacking the last one. Most other sutras do not teach it. Among the four kinds of benefits, this is the first benefit of generating the mind of enlightenment, that is, in the commentary on the "Arya Prajnaparamita Sutra," from the chapter on non-arising, it says, what are the five kinds of enlightenment? It is said: the forbearance that is extremely certain and in accordance with, and the forbearance towards the Dharma of non-arising, and the three kinds of enlightenment.

It is said to be "Mo," which means the one opposite to the earth and the one dwelling on the earth, as well as the non-learning bodhi of the three vehicles and the five aspects. Furthermore, there are five aspects of bodhi. The first is the bodhi of generating the mind of enlightenment, which is called bodhi because of generating the mind for the sake of seeking the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment from countless eons. This is attributing the result to the cause. The second is the bodhi of subduing the mind, which is abandoning the afflictions and taming the mind, practicing all the perfections. The third is the bodhi of wisdom, which is to view the general characteristics and specific characteristics inherent in the dharmas of the three times, and to discern and measure the ultimate purity of all dharmas, such as the Prajnaparamita. The fourth is the bodhi of ultimately attaining liberation, which is to obtain skillful means from the Prajnaparamita, so that without attachment to the Prajnaparamita, all afflictions are blocked, and all the Buddhas of the ten directions are seen, and having obtained the patience of non-arising dharmas, one is liberated from the three realms and reaches the state of omniscience. The fifth is the unsurpassed bodhi, which is to abide in the essence of bodhi, destroy the imprints of afflictions, and attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Thus it is said. In the Tripitaka, what was said by Ananda, from the type of teaching upwards, is called the stage of generating the mind of enlightenment. The thirty minds below that are called the stage of taming the mind. From the first bhumi to the seventh bhumi and below, it is called the stage of wisdom. The eighth, ninth, and tenth bhumis are called the stage of ultimately attaining liberation. The one who becomes perfectly enlightened is said to be the unsurpassed stage. These five mentioned here, based on these five, should explain the words of the sutra. Among them, the "unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment" that is mentioned is the bodhi that should be sought everywhere. The so-called "generating the mind for the bodhi that should be sought everywhere" is for the sake of seeking everywhere.
