Thus, through these causes and conditions, this limb is perfected. This is the second point, demonstrating the establishment for the sake of self-perfection. In this way, the bodhisattva of the fifth ground, through the power of the three kinds of arising previously shown, will perfect this limb. In the Tibetan translation of the treatise "Compendium on the Great Vehicle," it says: From the fourth ground of the bodhisattva, one cannot meditate on the four truths with special power, nor abandon viewing samsara and nirvana, turning away and facing towards them. One cannot meditate on the aspects of enlightenment embraced by the means of the mind. The reason for this inability is due to three obscurations: the ignorance of focusing solely on turning away from and facing towards samsara and nirvana, and the ignorance of the aspects of enlightenment embraced by skillful means. Whatever manifestly arises from the causes and conditions of these two ignorances is called the ripening of an unfortunate state. To abandon these three obscurations, one establishes the cause of diligent effort. Having abandoned the obscurations through diligent effort, one enters the fifth ground, and also obtains eight kinds of particularly excellent purifications, and will abandon the mind that turns away and faces forward, and so forth. One will also realize the intervals between the meanings of different streams of phenomena, and thus this limb will perfect the fifth ground, as it is said. Entering into samsara, one cannot discern things as they truly are, and furthermore, because of much weariness in that, one cannot abide much through attending to the signless. Through these causes and conditions, this limb is not perfected, and so forth. This is the sixth, showing the summary manifested by the sixth limb. This also has two aspects: showing that the subsequent conduct on the fifth ground is not perfected, and showing the establishment of perfecting one's own ground. This is the first. Thus, although the fifth ground has attained the yoga of truth, one will not attain the sixth ground due to two kinds of causes and conditions. Entering into samsara, it is also like that there.

I am unable to distinctly understand the principle of dependent origination as it is, and because I have a great deal of aversion to suffering and the afflictions of arising, I am unable to abide in the non-conceptual mind. These two causes and conditions prevent the sixth bhumi's limb from being fully perfected, which is the concluding statement. In order to perfect that limb, one can attain it by diligently meditating. Those Bodhisattvas perfect that limb through these causes and conditions, and this second point shows the accomplishment of perfecting the Dharma of one's own bhumi. Thus, the Bodhisattva of the sixth bhumi, because of seeing dependent origination, that limb will be perfected. In the commentary on the Compendium of the Mahayana, translated by Lang, it says: The Bodhisattva of the fifth bhumi, because he does not possess the extraordinary ability to directly realize the arising of conditioned dharmas without interruption, he cannot abide for a long time in the mind of the aspect as he wishes by meditating on many conditioned dharmas. The reason for not being able to abide in this way is also due to the three obscurations: the uninterrupted arising of conditioned dharmas is the ignorance of manifesting entry into samadhi; and the ignorance of the universal arising of many aspects. The cycle that is manifestly established from the causes and conditions of these two ignorances is called the maturation of the evil destiny. In order to abandon these three obscurations, one must manifest and establish the cause of perfect striving. By abandoning these three obscurations through perfect striving, one can enter the sixth bhumi, and one will also attain eight kinds of particularly excellent purity, and one will also directly realize the uninterrupted arising of actions, etc., and one will also thoroughly understand the meaning of the dharmadhatu being completely defiled and without purity, so that limb will also perfect the sixth bhumi. It is also said that because there is no uninterrupted and uninterrupted non-conceptual mind, that limb is not perfected because of these causes and conditions, and so on.
