The five elements have no place to dwell. There are also two kinds of things: one is to show that the five things are completely mature, and the other is to show that one has understood after hearing what is shown from "by them" onwards. This is the first. After hearing this Dharma by them, knowing "what I have said is extremely profound, as it is," etc., shows the second kind of understanding after hearing. This also has two aspects: one is to show the understanding itself after hearing, and the other is to show the benefits of understanding as it is. This is the first. Thus, because of hearing the Dharma, the meaning of what the Tathagata thought and said, and completely distinguished, is understood as it is. Moreover, great joy will arise in these Dharmas, and one will also be able to contemplate this meaning as it is with undeviating wisdom. Relying on this contemplation, because of extreme habituation, one will also be able to quickly and quickly attain the extremely ultimate state. From "quickly" onwards, the second kind of benefit of understanding as it is is shown. This is also shown in two ways: one is to show the benefit of understanding itself, and the other is to show the benefit of generating great faith in the Tathagata. This is the first. This sutra text is also divided into two, namely, showing joy in the Dharma and showing joy in the meaning. Joy in the meaning is also divided into three, namely, showing understanding as it is with the path of seeing, and showing dwelling in the path of meditation, relying on this contemplation and extremely habituating, and showing dwelling in the ultimate, only quickly can one attain the unsurpassed Nirvana of Bodhi. Moreover, generating great faith in me, and completely knowing that the Tathagata is the truly perfect Buddha, who is manifestly perfectly enlightened from all Dharmas, this is the second kind of benefit of showing great faith in the Tathagata. Any sentient beings who generate vast roots of virtue, purify all obscurations, their continuums are completely mature, and their aspirations increase.

Not having meditated, not having accumulated a great collection of merit and wisdom, from here onwards is the second part, which explains the individuals who do not have the five perfections but possess firm faith. This also has two aspects: explaining the absence of the five things, and merely explaining the firm faith itself. This is the first part. Even though these yogis do not possess those five things, it shows that due to the manifestation and accomplishment of the four things, firm faith arises. The distinctions of the four things are as previously explained. His nature is upright and becomes one with an upright nature, although he does not have the power to distinguish and eliminate discriminations, he does not abide in holding his own view as supreme, and so forth, this second part shows the firm faith itself. This is also shown in three ways: showing that he does not abide in his own view and thus has faith, from "Sutra Pitaka etc." onwards showing that due to the power of firm faith, he humbly abides, and from "For those Sutra Pitakas" onwards showing that due to the power of benefiting himself, he becomes a collection of merit and wisdom, etc. The first part is also divided into three: showing that he does not abide in his own view, showing that hearing the teachings gives rise to firm faith, and thoroughly showing the characteristics of firm faith. This is the first part, his nature is upright, which refers to faith itself. Therefore, in the Sutra taught by the noble Vimalakirti, it says, "An upright mind is the essence of bodhicitta," so an upright mind should be understood as the mind of firm faith. Also, in the commentary on the noble Prajnaparamita, it says, "One can enter the ocean of the Buddha's teachings through faith," therefore, upright should be understood as referring to firm faith, which is obvious. That is because he has become uprightness itself. Although he cannot completely eliminate what is said in the sacred texts that transcend the power of wisdom and the reasoning that is not rational, he does not abide in holding his own view as supreme, and he strives to seek the Sutra Pitakas of definitive meaning.
