It is said that the nature of that seed of action is coarse, like a fat puppy. The other aspects are in accordance with the commentary written by Master Vasubandhu. Because the explanations of this sutra's words based on these teachings and so on are different from each other, Some say that the words of this sutra are in accordance with the translation of "elephant calf" in the commentary on the Compendium of the Great Vehicle, meaning that a superior, wise puppy can give birth to an inferior, less wise puppy. Some say that the meaning of this sutra's words is in accordance with the commentary written by Master Vasubandhu, etc., that is, the superior wisdom dog can give birth to the affliction dog. Some say that if the words of this sutra are explained in detail from the perspective of characteristics, then they are in accordance with the commentary written by Master Vasubandhu, etc. In general, since it is explained from the perspective of characteristics, everything will not contradict each other. For example, bodhisattvas, in front of the ground, obtain the fundamental samadhi, and the body is greatly softened, so that they can completely eliminate the grossness of the body. Afterwards, the subtle image in the samadhi can completely eliminate the external coarse signs, or the subtle image sign can completely eliminate the fundamental coarse signs, so the bodhisattvas who dwell on the ground, through the yoga of meditating on suchness, can completely eliminate the image sign. Similarly, everything between wisdom eliminating afflictions, if examined, can be understood. Alternatively, combining metaphor and meaning is to explain it by combining the path of cultivation with the temporary state. In order to permanently cut off all signs and grossness, gradually purifying the mind like refining gold on those higher and higher grounds is called the second purification of mind. Just like this, on the first ground, by the power of cutting off the two bonds, on the higher grounds, the mind is purified like refining unrefined gold.

How should one view that? Answer: Pure gold has three aspects: purity of impurities, purity of bullion, and purity of usability. Among them, purity of impurities refers to the state where the coarse, medium, and fine impurities of gold existing in the source are removed, and only the gold powder that is as pure as possible remains. Purity of bullion refers to the bullion that is formed by melting the gold powder. Purity of usability refers to refining the bullion to remove impurities such as slag. Furthermore, there is an example in the same scripture: For example, a blacksmith or a blacksmith's apprentice, in order to remove all dirt and impurities from gold or silver, will burn it in fire and wash it with water from time to time, making it soft and usable for making various ornaments, and manifesting it in a usable way. Just like that, a skilled blacksmith or a blacksmith's apprentice will use tools to shape the gold into any desired ornament. Similarly, a yogi will become weary of the mind that is always inclined towards defilements and impurities such as greed, not inclined towards afflictions and discomfort, but inclined towards joy in virtue, thereby making the mind joyful. Then, the yogi will closely combine the mind with either the side of tranquility or the side of insight, making it very calm, stable, unwavering, and acting correctly in order to achieve the meaning of what is thought. It is said in the scriptures that ultimately, one will attain the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and achieve the goal of fulfilling the purpose. This indicates the second stage of fruition, which is the fifth and final stage of completion. Therefore, in each stage, one must not only subdue one's own mind, but also completely subdue it until reaching the ultimate state of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Furthermore, relying on this ground, among the four aims, the fourth aim

The aim of complete accomplishment will also be attained. In the state of Buddhahood, all four of these aims are fully possessed. Alternatively, those before the ground will attain two aims. Those who abide on the tenth ground are called the limit of things. The state of Buddhahood is called complete perfection. Although there are two such explanations, the former explanation is better. Son of good family, thus, because the Bodhisattva truly cultivates inner calm abiding and insight, he will manifestly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, which is the second conclusion. Thus, Bodhisattvas who abide on the ground, relying on the path of calm abiding and insight, will attain unsurpassed enlightenment because of diligent cultivation. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva Maitreya asked the Bhagavan thus: Bhagavan, if one cultivates in what way, will the power and qualities of the Bodhisattva be able to lead extensively and widely? From here on, this is the seventeenth, the door that leads to power and qualities that are extensive and vast. This also has two aspects: the question and the answer. This is the question itself. Son of good family, if Bodhisattvas become skilled in the six abodes, then how much power and qualities of the Bodhisattva are vast, they will be able to lead. From here on, this is the second, the Tathagata's correct answer that is taught. This is also divided into two: explaining correctly and distinctly as asked, and the son of good family and so forth is the conclusion. The first is also divided into three: stating the number and answering briefly, listing the names according to the number, and explaining separately according to the order. This is the first, stating the number and answering briefly: Thus, if Bodhisattvas become skilled in the six abodes, they will be able to lead vast power and qualities. Skilled in the arising of the mind, skilled in the abiding of the mind, skilled in the learning of the mind.
