This explains the transitional stage. This passage is also divided into two parts. The first is to show diligence in meditation, where meditation means to increase and clarify. For example, before the path of seeing, in the latter nine grounds, the wisdom of meditation gradually increases. Alternatively, "higher and higher" refers to the complete explanation of the ten grounds. There are ten grounds before the path of seeing, not just one, so the phrase "higher and higher" is repeated. The second is to show that it is in accordance with the three objects of focus, such as "the three objects of focus." For example, non-conceptual wisdom does not manifest the reality of the ultimate nature of inner objects as the correct object, as the image of correct thought. From the perspective of subsequent wisdom, it does not take the image associated with conceptual thought and the objects of non-conceptual images as the object of thought. Therefore, it is clear from this reason that all ten grounds are fully equipped with these three objects of focus. The fiftieth fascicle. For example, someone has a very small dog give birth to a very large dog, which is the second method of using analogy. For example, when worldly people cut down trees, Just as a small dog gives birth to a large dog, this is the concluding statement. Similarly, Bodhisattvas also rely on this method of a dog giving birth to a dog, in order to eliminate inner signs, thereby eliminating all signs that are in accordance with the afflicted division. In order to completely eliminate signs, they also eliminate bad destinies, etc., which is the third explanation that combines analogy and meaning. This is also divided into two parts: explaining liberation from the two bonds in the first ground, and purifying the mind in the other grounds. This is the first, for example, the Bodhisattva of the first ground also relies on the noble path of a dog giving birth to a dog, thereby eliminating the inner signs in meditation. Completely eliminating signs

Therefore, all the bonds of signs will be completely removed. In order to completely remove the bonds of signs, the bonds of bad destinies will also be abandoned in the same way. Therefore, in the Treatise on the Stages of Yoga Practice, practicing the truth that has not been distinguished is practicing signs. Because one does not practice signs, one is completely liberated from the bonds of signs. Because one is completely liberated from the bonds of signs, one will also be completely liberated from the bonds of bad destinies, as it is taught. The characteristics of the differences between the two bonds should be understood as previously stated. How does one know that one is completely liberated from the two bonds from the first ground onwards? It is said: In the Treatise on the Establishment of Consciousness Only, it is said that one who abides in the stage of practice does not completely remove the bonds of signs, so one also abandons the bonds of bad destinies. Furthermore, in the commentary on the Compendium of the Great Vehicle, it is said in the translation of Lang's time: If one attains non-conceptual wisdom, one will be completely liberated from the bonds of signs. When the bonds of signs do not arise, the bonds of bad destinies will also be pacified in their wake. Therefore, it should be understood that the two bonds are not abandoned before the ground. The analogy of a puppy giving birth to a puppy is different from what is said in the various teachings. In the Treatise on the Stages of Yoga Practice, it is said: The image is like a small puppy. Form is like a large dog. The extremely tamed body is like a small puppy. The bad destiny of the body is like a large dog. It is said that just as a small puppy gives birth to a large dog. Therefore, in that very treatise, it is said: What is abandonment and cultivation? It is said: Here, some people, by focusing on the sign of the object of meditation, manifest and eliminate the sign of nature, just like a puppy giving birth to a puppy. Just as some people use a very small dog to give birth to a very large dog. Yogis also manifest the aggregates of bad destinies of the body with the aggregates of extreme tameness.

Giving, manifesting, dispelling, whatever is able to manifest abandonment is called abandonment meditation. Furthermore, the treatise 'Detailed Explanation' states that abandonment meditation is as follows: For example, here, someone contemplates the image of the object of samadhi, thereby completely eliminating the characteristics of the fundamental nature of all phenomena, and it no longer appears. This is it. The rest is in accordance with what is taught in the treatise 'Yogacarabhumi'. The commentary on the treatise 'Mahayanasamgraha', when translating 'elephant', says: A thin dog driving out a fat dog is an example of how, in the ten bhumis, superior wisdom dispels inferior wisdom. Therefore, it says there: For example, just as worldly people who want to cut down a tree first use a thin dog and then a fat dog, so too, the yogi destroys afflictions in the same way. First, they practice an inferior path, then they practice a middling path, and finally they practice a supreme path. The treatise 'Mahayanasamgraha' states: The noble path is like a thin dog, and the seeds of all afflictions are like a fat dog. Therefore, the commentary by Master Vasubandhu states: The excellent distinction of the antidote is as follows: The wisdom-dog that focuses on the mixture of all dharmas, in the manner of driving out a dog, is for the purpose of driving out all the seeds of obscuration on the alaya-consciousness. The commentary on this states that the wisdom that focuses on the mixture of dharmas is the antidote to all obscurations, just as a thin dog drives out a fat dog. The seeds that are completely imbued with all afflicted dharmas on the root consciousness are called fat dogs. The paths that have become antidotes are the meaning of thin dogs because they are able to abandon them. Furthermore, the commentary on the 'Mahayanasamgraha' by Master Asanga states: The noble path is like a thin dog because it is extremely abundant. It abandons.
