not shown. Whatever possesses the four characteristics of arising, etc., is called the characteristic of the conditioned. Whatever is the opposite of that is called the characteristic of the unconditioned. In general, it should be understood as explained in treatises such as the *Abhidharmasamuccaya* and the *Mahāvibhāṣā*. The so-called characteristic of permanence or the characteristic of impermanence refers to the seventh, the explanation of the characteristics of permanence and impermanence. The conditioned and unconditioned previously explained, although their essence is not different, are explained because their meanings are different. The so-called characteristic of having the variability of suffering, or the characteristic of not having the variability of suffering, refers to the eighth, the explanation of the characteristics of having the variability of suffering, etc. For example, the feelings of suffering and pleasure are called the characteristic of having the variability of suffering. The feeling of equanimity is called the characteristic of not having the variability of suffering. Furthermore, the dependent nature and the imputed nature are called the characteristic of having the variability of suffering. The perfectly established nature is called the characteristic of not having the variability of suffering. In the *Madhyāntavibhāga* and the *Vimsatikā*, it is extensively shown how the four noble truths belong to the three natures. In the *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra*, it is said that suffering and origination are the function of the nature of invariability, which is due to the different views of the translators. The so-called characteristic of the difference of the characteristics of the conditioned, or the characteristic of the similarity of the characteristics of the unconditioned, refers to the ninth, the explanation of the characteristics of the sameness and difference of the conditioned. In the *Ārya Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra*, it is said: The own-characteristic is like this: all dharmas have their own-characteristic. How it changes and has obstruction is the own-characteristic of form. Experiencing is the own-characteristic of feeling. Grasping signs is the own-characteristic of perception. Activating is the

It is the self-characteristic of being able to do. Cognition is the self-characteristic of being able to distinguish, like this and so on, there are countless self-characteristics. The common characteristic is like this: the common characteristic of all dharmas. For example, suffering is the common characteristic of all dharmas with afflictions. Impermanence is the common characteristic of all dharmas with afflictions. Emptiness and selflessness are the common characteristics of all dharmas, like this and so on, there are countless common characteristics. It is like what was said. Recognizing that all dharmas are in all dharmas, called the characteristic of the existence of all dharmas, this is the tenth, showing the characteristic of knowing all dharmas. Recognizing that all dharmas are in all dharmas, this sentence means that before that, the characteristics were separated and explained, but here, the characteristics are shown in general, so the wisdom that can be fully understood is spoken, thus excellently showing the characteristics that should be fully understood. This shows the self-characteristic of the dharmas. Called the characteristic of the existence of all dharmas, it shows the characteristic of difference, because for each one, there are those that can be shown and those that cannot be shown, etc., called the existence of all dharmas. Or, the former is the very existence of all that exists. The latter is called all dharmas, which is the very existence as it is. What is the characteristic of the selflessness of a person, or, what is the characteristic of the selflessness of dharmas? This is the eleventh, showing the characteristic of selflessness. Among them, "Pudgala" (Tibetan: བུད་ཀ་ལ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: पुद्गल, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: pudgala, Chinese literal meaning: person) translated also called combination, because it takes the beings who repeatedly transmigrate. These two selflessnesses should also be understood as stated in the "Yogacarabhumi-sastra". Therefore, in that treatise it is said that the selflessness of a person is from the arising of dependent origination, because it is unrelated to the self with different meanings. The selflessness of dharmas is the arising of dependent origination, those are selfless, because they are impermanent. This is what is shown. From those arising, placing the mind in equanimity, this is the third, truly showing the elimination itself. In a truthful way, with the characteristics of arising shown above, with the wisdom of cultivation,
