It is said that superior insight arises depending on the object of observation, and this can be divided into three types. The first of these, starting with "beginning with the seven suchnesses," refers to the object to be examined. Thus, in the stage of accumulation, relying on calm abiding and superior insight, one contemplates the seven suchnesses. The second, starting with "how to hear," indicates the location of the three wisdoms. Among them, "how to hear" indicates the location of the wisdom of hearing. Hearing means listening. This is because the ear faculty generates ear consciousness, so it is said that one hears the teachings. The phrase "on the thought-of dharmas" indicates the location of the wisdom of thinking. Thus, the wisdom of thinking is to contemplate the teachings, thereby generating wisdom, because one thinks about and thoroughly distinguishes the dharmas. The phrase "the special mind of equipoise" indicates the location of meditation. Meditation means familiarization. This is because one generates the wisdom of special samadhi, thereby meditating on the antidote. The phrase "well established" and so on indicates the wisdom generated by them. Among them, with the wisdom of hearing, one relies on the seven suchnesses and establishes them well. The phrase "by good thought" refers to the wisdom arising from thought. The phrase "well placed" and so on refers to the wisdom arising from meditation, because one relies on the seven suchnesses and attends to them inwardly. Some say that this can be divided into three types: the stage of application, the stage of seeing, and the stage of the path of cultivation. The path of application can also be divided into two types: the meditation of attending to suchness, and starting from "by that," the elimination of signs, which is the first. This sutra passage can also be divided into two types to explain: attending to the seven suchnesses is said to be cultivation, and starting from "well established," it is said to be the cultivation of suchness. In this way, Bodhisattvas begin with the seven suchnesses.

From how it was heard, and becoming warm by the special power of abiding equally with the inferior and the equal, and in the state of the peak, it is well determined by the four universal searches. The sign of the inner or the sign of the outer, or the sign of the inner and outer, this is called the second three signs of the inner and so on. In short, for inner and outer, there are three kinds of explanations. Some say that one's own body is the inner. The body of others is the outer. That which combines the two is the inner and outer. Some say that the six faculties are the inner. The six objects are the outer. That which combines the two is the inner and outer. Some say that whatever is a sentient being is the inner. Whatever is not a sentient being is the outer. That which combines the two is the inner and outer. In the Great Vibhasha Shastra, there are three kinds of differences between inner and outer dharmas. The first is the related inner and outer, for example, whatever exists in one's own body is the inner. Whatever exists in the body of others and is not a sentient being is the outer. The second is the inner and outer of the place, for example, whatever is the basis of mind and mental factors is the inner. The object to be focused on is the outer. The third is the inner and outer of sentient beings and non-sentient beings, for example, whatever dharma belongs to the category of sentient beings is the inner. Whatever dharma belongs to the category of non-sentient beings is the outer. In the Sutra of the Holy Perfection of Wisdom and so on, it is explained in accordance with the above two explanations. Therefore, it says therein that emptiness of the inner is like this: the six inner sense bases. Emptiness of the outer is like this: the six outer sense bases. Emptiness of the inner and outer is like this: the six inner and outer sense bases. The sign that I think I will apply for the benefit of sentient beings is called the third sign of showing benefit to others. This is the treatise.
