It is shown that pervasive ignorance is also included. In the commentary on the Daśabhūmika-sūtra, it is said that there is pervasive ignorance in listening, thinking, and meditating, and the obscuration of forgetting the dharmas. In the commentary by Master Vasubandhu, it is said that in listening, thinking, and meditating, there is dullness, slowness, and forgetfulness. In the commentary on the Mahāyānasaṃgraha translated by Vasubandhu, it is said that for the mind that is focused on one point, there is ignorance that cannot be quickly understood, and ignorance that causes listening, thinking, and meditating to be forgotten. In fact, it is in accordance with the two kinds of pervasive ignorance mentioned in the Vijñāptimātratāsiddhi. In the Saṃdhinirmocana-sūtra, it says that the fault of wanting to obtain virtuous dharmas, and the pervasive ignorance of desire mentioned in this sutra, although it includes the first pervasive ignorance, in reality, both pervasive ignorances are included in the nature, as stated in the Vijñāptimātratāsiddhi. In addition, when explaining definitive words, other treatises say that the obscuration of ignorance, just as desire itself is the obscuration of ignorance, is called the obscuration of ignorance. This is an explanation from the perspective of function. Or, ignorance is another name for affliction, just as ignorance is called the obscuration of knowledge, because their essence is the same. If combined with this explanation, it is an explanation from the perspective of the owner, because it is the obscuration of ignorance. Therefore, it is called the obscuration of desire, which is an explanation from the perspective of the owner. Or, craving for dharma is desire, so it is an explanation from the perspective of function. In the fourth bhūmi, it becomes the antidote to the obscuration of craving for samādhi and craving for dharma, which indicates the obscuration of the fourth bhūmi. The Vijñāptimātratāsiddhi says that the view of self that arises simultaneously with consciousness, and the craving for samādhi and the craving for dharma, their essence is the same.

Therefore, in that very treatise, the obscurations of subtle afflictions that manifest are as follows: one aspect that arises simultaneously with the obscuration of knowledge, and whatever is included by the view of the perishable aggregate, etc., which is associated with the consciousness of the mind. From this, one becomes attached to the Dharma of the aspects of enlightenment of the fourth level, and it is said that when one enters the fourth level, one completely abandons it. This is explained in detail in that very treatise. In this context, the term "view of the perishable aggregate, etc." also includes the obscuration of knowledge from beginningless time, attachment to meditative absorption, and attachment to the Dharma. Attachment to meditative absorption and attachment to the Dharma are increased even by the third level, so when one enters the fourth level, one begins to completely abandon them, because the Dharma of the aspects of enlightenment is extremely incompatible with them. Furthermore, in this very sutra, it is taught that from below, there are two types of pervasive bewilderment: the pervasive bewilderment of attachment to meditative absorption and the pervasive bewilderment of attachment to the Dharma.

The cause of arising is the craving for meditative concentration, because translators have different ideas. In this sutra, the statement about craving for meditative absorption and craving for the Dharma simultaneously encompasses two kinds of universal ignorance. The reason why it doesn't mention 'view of the aggregates' is that it is not limited to just two kinds of correct universal ignorance. Moreover, the definitive words are explained only in the establishment of the Treatise on Mere Consciousness. The obscuration that arises from subtle afflictions is as follows: it refers to the co-emergent view of the aggregates. The term 'subtle' that appears in that treatise has three meanings: because it is not one-sided, because it does not focus on the object of mind, and because it follows along for a long time. The term 'affliction' appears because it arises as one with the nature of affliction, so it is shown as affliction. Because that itself is the obscuration that arises from subtle afflictions. This is an explanation made from the perspective of the master. In this sutra, the obscuration of craving for meditative absorption and craving for the Dharma is also spoken from the perspective of the master. Alternatively, it is an explanation from the perspective of completely holding onto actions, in this way, the obscuration of knowledge also obtains the name of craving. Therefore, craving for the Dharma and so on, is an explanation of completely holding onto actions by the name of craving. Furthermore, the term craving is only the name of affliction, so it is clearly established as an explanation of completely holding onto actions. In this way, previously the nature of the obscuration of knowledge was shown by a general name, and afterwards, it is because the obscuration is shown. In other treatises, there are many definitive words shown, so they are not mentioned here. The fifth ground is that which turns towards one in terms of samsara and nirvana, and becomes the antidote to the obscuration of turning towards manifestation, what is said is showing the obscuration of the fifth ground. In the Treatise on Mere Consciousness, one side of the co-emergent from the obscuration of knowledge, and among the twenty-two kinds of universal ignorance, the very fact of not turning towards samsara itself is in mind.
