In the commentary on the Twenty Verses on Consciousness-Only, it says: Knowing that phenomena do not exist in any way is not called entering into the absence of self of phenomena. Rather, it refers to the complete abandonment of the specific nature that children universally cling to; that which is the absence of self of phenomena is what is called entering into the absence of self of phenomena. Because it is not that there is nothing of the inexpressible nature that is the realm of the Buddhas, therefore it is taught that this is the absence of self of phenomena. Furthermore, in the commentary on the Compendium of the Great Vehicle by Master Asanga, it says: Because of insisting that there is a cause for that which is without cause, it is called superimposition. Because of vehemently denying that there is a cause for existence and non-existence, it is called denigration. From there, for the imputed, there is only superimposition, and there is no denigration, because there is nothing at all. Thus, denigration arises towards that which exists. For the dependent, there is neither superimposition nor denigration, because it exists by itself. I, like this, initially have superimposition for that which does not exist. There is also no denigration, because it exists only in a non-veridical way. For the thoroughly established, there is no superimposition, because it exists veridically. There is only denigration, it is taught up to that point, as it is taught extensively in that very text. Furthermore, in the Treatise on the Stages of Yogic Practice, it says: That denigration which says that the dependent and the thoroughly established do not exist is called wrongly grasping emptiness. As explained earlier, it should be well distinguished. Furthermore, in the commentary on the Holy Perfection of Wisdom, it says: Those beings who are greatly attached to the appearance of existence and greatly attached to the appearance of non-existence are attached to the appearance of existence and the appearance of non-existence. These two views are not correct, and because they are not correct, they destroy the Middle Way. For example, if someone enters a narrow path, with very deep water on one side and a great fire on the other, they will die no matter which way they go. To existence

It is said that clinging to existence and manifestly clinging to non-existence will both increase. It is as explained in detail therein. If asked, what is the difference between this "Condensed Emptiness" and the seventeen emptinesses? It is said: There are two explanations for this. Some say that there is no difference in essence, but the general and the specific are different. Some say that this "Condensed Emptiness" eliminates the nature of the completely imputed, while the previous seventeen emptinesses eliminate images, therefore there is a difference. Bodhisattva Maitreya again requested the Bhagavan in this way: Bhagavan, how many excellent samadhis can these shamatha and vipashyana gather? From this point on is the thirteenth, the door of shamatha and vipashyana gathering other samadhis. This also has two aspects: asking and answering. This is the asking. The Bhagavan said to Bodhisattva Maitreya: Son of good family, I have declared the immeasurable excellent samadhis of the Shravakas, Bodhisattvas, and Tathagatas. All of those should be understood as being gathered by this. This is the second, the Tathagata truthfully answering that all the immeasurable samadhis of the three vehicles should be understood as being gathered by this shamatha and vipashyana, because there is no other samadhi that is not gathered by this. Bhagavan, what is the cause of these shamatha and vipashyana? From this point on is the fourteenth, the door of the cause, effect, and function of shamatha and vipashyana. This can also be divided into three: showing the cause, showing the effect, and showing the function. This is the first, showing the cause. The first can also be divided into two: asking and answering. This is the asking. Son of good family, with pure morality and pure right view arising from hearing and thinking,
