If it is said that it is taught in this way from the suchness of consciousness-only, then this second question is what the Tathagata answered correctly. This sutra passage also has two aspects: The first is to show the answer of individual examination, which is the nature of the three kinds of wisdom. Therefore, in the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra, it is said, "There are three kinds of mental examination." The second is to show the path to be examined individually, which is the suchness of consciousness-only among the seven suchnesses. That suchness also has two aspects: The first is that all conditioned things are the nature of consciousness-only, therefore it is called suchness. This is to meditate on consciousness-only in conventional truth. The second is that the nature of consciousness-only is called the nature of consciousness-only. This is to meditate on consciousness-only in ultimate truth. Those who are in the stage before the ground examine the characteristics of consciousness-only. From the first ground onwards, they examine the nature of consciousness-only. This is a general explanation of both yogis. "Bhagavan, how many characteristics are difficult to eliminate for a Bodhisattva who correctly understands Dharma and meaning in this way and strives to eliminate characteristics? By what means are they eliminated?" From here onwards is the third question, and the answer shows the differentiation of the characteristics that are difficult to eliminate. This is also divided into three parts: the question and the answer differentiate the characteristics that are difficult to eliminate, etc.; "Bhagavan, when eliminating the ten characteristics," from here onwards is the question and the answer differentiate the liberation of completely eliminating the characteristics; and from then on, Bodhisattva Maitreya, from here onwards is the question and the answer differentiate the summary of the characteristics of emptiness. Among them, the first differentiation of the characteristics that are difficult to eliminate is shown by asking the question and giving the answer. This is the first question about the number of characteristics that are difficult to completely eliminate and the emptiness that eliminates the characteristics. Son of good family, characteristics

There are ten aspects. Starting from the phrase "Dispelling the aspects through emptiness," this is the second part where the Tathagata gives a correct answer. It can be divided into three parts: first, briefly answering by enumerating numbers; second, examination; and third, the Tathagata extensively explaining, which is the first. Among them, "There are ten aspects" is the part that answers the first question. Like this, the aspects that are difficult to completely eliminate are, in short, ten in number. These ten aspects can also be eliminated by meditating on emptiness. It is not like meditating on the impurity of things, etc. Although meditating on emptiness does not eliminate aspects such as complete purity, it is said to be difficult to eliminate in order to better distinguish them. Combining with what is said in the sutra below, if there are sixteen aspects, why are only ten aspects mentioned? The answer is: In terms of the true meaning, although there are sixteen distinguishable aspects, there are ten aspects for the purpose of separately and correctly understanding the meaning. Therefore, ten aspects are shown in brief. "Dispelling through emptiness" is the part that answers the second question, meaning that it is dispelled by seventeen kinds of emptiness. In the *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra*, there are eighteen kinds of emptiness, because the eighth aspect has five kinds of emptiness. What are the ten? "What are the ten" is the second examination. In order to separately and correctly understand the Dharma and meaning, whatever has various words and letters, etc., is the third part where the Tathagata extensively explains. This is also divided into ten aspects by showing the elimination of the ten aspects through emptiness, and this is the first. The first is also divided into two: first, explaining the aspects to be completely eliminated; and second, showing the emptiness that completely eliminates, which is the first. Among them, in "Dharma and meaning," Dharma is the teaching, and meaning is the meaning of the object. Because the nature of Dharma is meaning, this is the complete grasping of the activity.
