, and showing seeing. This is showing knowing. That special wisdom which is the object of non-mingled dharmas, the calm abiding and special insight meditation, is called seeing. This is the second, explaining seeing separately. In the true sense, both kinds of dharmas belong to knowing and seeing, because they are completely sought and completely cut off, so they have meaning. Here, in order to clearly show the superiority and inferiority of the two forms, it is said that the object of non-mingled dharmas is seeing, and the object of mingled dharmas is knowing. It is inconsistent with what is said in the "Sandhinirmocana Sutra", because the thoughts of the translators are different. The explanations of knowing and seeing also differ in various teachings. In the "Abhidharmakosha", it is said that forbearance is not the nature of knowing, because it is necessary to cut off one's own doubts and has not yet been cut off, so it is included in the nature of seeing, and it is the nature of discrimination. The two wisdoms of cessation and arising are also not the nature of seeing, because the mind of complete seeking has been pacified, and there is no longer any discrimination. Other than that, the rest belong to the nature of both wisdom and seeing, because they can cut off one's own doubts and are the nature of discrimination. The contaminated knowings are all included in the nature of dharma-knowing, and six of them are only the nature of seeing, namely the five defilements and pure views, and the six worldly right views. As it is said in the sutra, the wisdom with the noble ones is included in the nature of wisdom because it can well distinguish all dharmas. In the "Mahavibhasa", it is also said, what is seeing? Answer: the five views of the eye, etc., and the worldly right view, and the seeing of the learners and non-learners. What is knowing? Answer: the five kinds of consciousness, and the corresponding wisdom, and the other consciousness and corresponding forbearance except for the uncontaminated forbearance. It is widely said as that.

As taught in the scriptures. Furthermore, are all things seen from that source wisdom? It is said that it can be divided into four categories. The first is that there are things that are seen but are not wisdom. For example, the eye faculty and the non-leaking forbearance. The second is that there are things that are wisdom but are not seen. For example, the five aggregates of consciousness and the wisdom that corresponds to them, as well as the exhaustion and non-arising wisdom, and the five views, and other worldly correct views, except for the other mind consciousness and the corresponding leaking wisdom. The third is that there are things that are both seen and not wisdom. For example, the five views, and the worldly correct view, and the non-leaking forbearance, and other non-leaking wisdom except for the exhaustion and non-arising wisdom, that is, the eight wisdoms of the learner, and the correct view of the non-learner. Their non-leaking wisdom, and the previous five views, and the worldly correct view, are the nature of both wisdom and seeing, and therefore are included in the third category. The fourth is that there are things that are neither seen nor wisdom. For example, the previous nature and, except for the basis of the nature, any dharma that is revealed by the third category, that is the nature. The other dharmas are the fourth category, so they should be revealed by the fourth category. What is that like? For example, other forms in the form aggregate except for the eye, and other formations in the formation aggregate except for wisdom, the other three aggregates, and conditioned and unconditioned dharmas are called the fourth category. As explained extensively therein. The Sutra masters explain that wisdom and seeing are not different. Therefore, in that very treatise, from the chapter on explaining wisdom and seeing, it says: What is the difference between seeing and wisdom? It is said that because the nature is the same, there is no difference. From the perspective of seeing and wisdom being the attainment of realizing and manifesting the Dharma, the meaning is the same. If the scriptures say that wisdom and seeing can attain the exhaustion of leaks, then for that...
