The explanation for this is as follows: What is the appearance of consciousness? I, in this way, from its nature, the appearance of those causes and effects, is so thoroughly distinguished by reason itself, therefore, completely abandoning the two extremes, thereby comprehending the Middle Way, it is said. To distinguish extensively, one should understand as it appears from the teachings on nature. For the sake of the nature of arising, abiding, and ceasing, this is the fifth teaching on the three natures of arising and so on. As it is said in the "Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra": 'Due to the power of conditions, from the previously unarisen cause, the first dharma that arises in any place, that is the nature of the conditioned, called arising.' It itself becoming other is aging. It also has two aspects: itself becoming other, and differently becoming other. Among them, arising similarly is itself becoming other. Arising dissimilarly is differently becoming other. The arising immediately after birth is merely following abiding. From the moment of arising onwards, not abiding for a moment is impermanence itself. These also transform into four natures from the temporal difference of the dharma itself, as taught in this way. Extensively, one should understand as it appears from the teachings on nature. For the sake of things like illness, this is the sixth door for distinguishing like illness and so on. Therefore, as it is said in the "Yogācārabhūmi-śāstra": 'The unpleasant perceptions are these four types, as follows: regarding conditioned things, considering them to be illness, fruit, pain, and sin, and attending to them.' Among them, like illness is like this: for example, someone cultivates an unpleasant perception of suffering due to an illness caused by an imbalanced element. Fruit is like this: cultivating an unpleasant perception of the suffering of the fruit arising from the cause of previous actions. Like pain is like this: for example, someone cultivates an unpleasant perception of the suffering arising from the cause of pain inflicted by another enemy. Like sin is like this: regarding the poverty transformed from antidotes and enjoyments, considering it to be the cause of sin resulting from one's own evil.

What is the practice of contemplating disagreement with the suffering of being pulled from the ground? This explains that yogis contemplate disagreement with actions. Furthermore, in the commentary on the Blessed Perfection of Wisdom, it is said that the five aggregates are like diseases because they are understood to arise with joy and turmoil. Some people hear that the five aggregates are like diseases and think that they are afraid of them. Therefore, it is said that they are like tumors that are difficult to remove. However, if they think that they can be cured, it is said that they are like thorns that cannot be removed as soon as they touch the body. Some people say that, for example, just as there are thorns in the body, it is difficult to remove them, but they can be removed by those who are skilled in medicine and have excellent skills. Therefore, it is said that they are always painful and disturbing. It is said that this is shown extensively in that very text. Because of suffering and arising, etc., this is the seventh door of distinguishing the four noble truths. The word "etc." includes the cessation and the path truths. The meaning of these four truths should be understood as it appears from the manifestation of characteristics. Because of suchness, the ultimate reality, the realm of phenomena, etc., this is the eighth door of showing many names of suchness. Among them, suchness is said to be suchness in the Treatise on the Establishment of Consciousness Only, which is said to be reality itself, showing that it is not true. The word "-ness" is permanence, showing that it is unchanging. In this way, since reality is always permanent in all circumstances, because its nature is as it is, it is called suchness, which shows the meaning of immutability and non-falsity. Furthermore, it says in that very text that it is called suchness because the meaning itself is true and not inverted. In the commentary by the teacher Near Light, it is said that it is called suchness because it is free from all untrue and inverted names.
