Because of the thorough differentiation and complete seeking with the letter "ba," it is called the wisdom and vision of the noble ones. The intention of speaking of wisdom and vision together is, from the explanation of the Prajñāpāramitā, if one asks: For the wisdom and vision of liberation, is it sufficient to say only wisdom? The answer is: Why is the word vision still said later? The answer is: When wisdom and vision are said together, things become stable, just as when two ropes are joined together, the rope becomes strong. It is as stated in the vast scriptures. Combining the meaning stated in the commentary on the Diamond Sutra of Prajñāpāramitā composed by Ācārya Asaṅga, the wisdom of the noble ones of direct perception is called wisdom and vision. If only wisdom is indicated, then it is like this, one can understand through this wisdom. If only vision is indicated, then it is like this, one can see through the fleshy eye and so on. Among them, wisdom can be distinguished from the seeing of the eye. Vision can be distinguished from inferential wisdom. Therefore, it is said that wisdom and vision are one wisdom. The wisdom and vision spoken of here are also consistent with what Ācārya Asaṅga said. However, it is incorrect to say here that language arises from non-things, and these explanations also differ from each other. Ācārya Āryadeva says in the *Catuḥśataka-śāstra*: If it is said that everything is not truly existent, then wouldn't everything said by the Blessed One become meaningless? The answer is: Self-nature is truly existent, because it is unspeakable that self-nature exists and unspeakable that self-nature is spoken, therefore that is the only meaning. Because it possesses four meanings, it is unspeakable. First, when abiding in the unique yoga of non-conceptual wisdom, one recollects the unique meaning, at that time it is unspeakable because there is no conceptualization. Second, even if the mental expression arising from the true yoga knows the unique object,

Because of abiding, it is unspeakable. Third, if terminology becomes conclusive, it will not be separated from the individual and the dharma, the grasped and the grasper, the conditioned and the unconditioned, because it transcends these unique meanings, it is unspeakable. Fourth, because only understanding that unique meaning, and the two ultimate measures are its objects, and not the subsequent inference and verbal measure are its objects, it is unspeakable. These show that in reality there is no absence of real things. Among them, the real thing is the nature of dharma that is free from words, and suchness is called the real thing. In order to realize the realm of suchness of wisdom that does not distinguish between self and other, therefore, it is said that merely establishing the conditioned is to truly show things. Some people, outsiders, say this: If it was not conditioned and unconditioned before, then it becomes nothing, why say conditioned and unconditioned? Doubts arise, and also, if all dharmas are free from name and speech, then there is no need to say even just a designation, doubts arise, therefore, although speech does not arise from nothing, in order to explain this, these were said: Because it is free from speech, this dependent arising dharma relies on its own awareness. It is not that there is no thing, and it is also necessary to say merely nominally in order to make others realize. Some people, outsiders, if the conditioned and unconditioned do not exist? Then it becomes no dharma, seeing what beneficial thing do you say is conditioned? Thinking like this, therefore, in response, these were said: It is not that there is no thing, this is a summary word. Things can be summarized in three ways: things that one realizes oneself, things that make others realize, and things that are named in order to make others realize. Each thing has many meanings, and it cannot be finished by saying.
