Therefore, the conditioned has been explained. Son of lineage, that which is called unconditioned also belongs to the category of names, this shows the second refutation of the unconditioned. Thus, because the Dharma of the unconditioned is also taught, it has entered into the number of terms of designation, and also because it is not established as a substance, it is not the meaning of the unconditioned. If one speaks of conditioned and unconditioned, no matter to which it belongs, its nature will also be the same, this shows the third refutation of the nature of neither conditioned nor unconditioned. Thus, this present unconditioned of the unconditioned is the refutation of the designation by the Vatsiputriya school. They establish the meaning of the five aggregates of Dharma as follows: the unconditioned of the three times, the aggregate of Dharma that cannot be spoken of, the self established by them, the three times of the conditioned that cannot be spoken of, and that which does not belong to the three times of the unconditioned. Therefore, that which is called neither conditioned nor unconditioned, this is said to be whatever can be spoken of. Here, in order to refute their designation, they desire the self that abides permanently, whatever can be spoken of, other than the conditioned and the unconditioned, its nature also falls into the number of names and letters, therefore it is not real, thus it is said, this is the concluding word. Or, the words of this sutra are the refutation of the designation of their lineage, but there is no certainty that there is manifest attachment. Furthermore, in the commentary on the Prajnaparamita, it is said: Thus, that which is called all Dharmas, in short, there are three kinds, namely, conditioned Dharma, unconditioned Dharma, and Dharma that cannot be spoken of. However, from this point down to "it is not that the action of non-existent things can be spoken of," this shows the second explanation of the answer to the refutation by others, and shows the true reasoning. Others say: If the Dharmas of the conditioned are neither conditioned nor unconditioned, the Tathagata has said conditioned and unconditioned.

Regarding this, there is doubt and opposition as to whether it will become without substance. The so-called substance refers to the substance of essence. In the Sutra of Definitive Explanation of Words, it says: Does the teaching spoken by the Buddha have no meaning? In the Sutra of Profound Meaning Explanation, it says: Empty names explain substance. This can be divided into three types: first, stating one's own tenets and giving a general answer; second, the Bodhisattva re-examines; and third, the Bodhisattva correctly explains the answer. The first is stating one's own tenets and giving a general answer, just as the Blessed One said, 'conditioned' and 'unconditioned,' although there are no conditioned dharmas that have truly become substance, however, it is not the case that speech arises from the absence of substance, that is its meaning. What is that substance? This is the second, the Bodhisattva re-examines. Just like the noble wisdom and noble vision of the noble ones, because they are free from names and speech, that which is fully enlightened as a Buddha, in order for others to fully realize that inexpressible Dharma nature, therefore, fabricated names and consciousness are used to create, this is the third, the Bodhisattva correctly explains the answer, which shows that speech does not arise from the absence of substance. The so-called noble one can be spoken of, the scriptures say: Just like because it is in complete accordance with the unpolluted noble path, therefore, it is far away from sinful dharmas, therefore it is called noble. In the Treatise on Correct Reasoning, it also says: A noble one is like one who is free from bondage, far away from sins, or because he inclines towards virtue, therefore he is called noble. In the Treatise on the Accomplishment of Suchness, it also says: Because he has reached Nirvana, therefore he is called noble. In the Yogacarabhumi-sastra, it says: Because virtue never runs out, therefore it is called noble. Regarding knowledge and seeing, knowledge means complete discernment, seeing means complete seeking, just like this, the unpolluted noble wisdom
