Q: Why is it said that others are also 'bound by one lifetime'? In the commentary on the Prajñāpāramitā, it is said: 'Except for the noble Maitreya, other Bodhisattvas are not empowered as regents of this place, but because they act as regents in the realms of the ten directions, they are called 'bound by one lifetime.'' Which of the three bodies do 'bound by one lifetime' and 'last existence' refer to? Among the three bodies, the Dharmakāya does not have the meaning of being 'bound by one lifetime,' because it has no beginning. If it is the Sambhogakāya, then there are two types: the first is the self-enjoyment Sambhogakāya, which does not have the meaning of Nirvāṇa and being 'bound by one lifetime,' but it does have the meaning of acting as regent in Akanishtha and manifesting enlightenment. Therefore, for the bodies of the desire realm of the non-learners and the gradually awakened Bodhisattvas, it is said to be 'bound by one lifetime' and 'last existence,' because having abandoned afflictions, they are no longer born. For the bodies of the fourth Dhyāna of the gradually awakened and the instantaneously awakened Bodhisattvas with disciples, it is also said to be 'bound by one lifetime' and 'last existence,' because they will undoubtedly experience the ripened fruit of the fourth Dhyāna as the last. The second is the other-enjoyment Sambhogakāya and the Nirmāṇakāya, which have the meaning of entering the realm of Nirvāṇa and acting as regents, just as Avalokiteśvara is the regent of Amitābha Buddha. Amitābha Buddha is also of two types: the first is for the Bodhisattvas before the ground, the two vehicles, and ordinary beings, manifesting a body born of parents, which is included in the Nirmāṇakāya, as it is said in the Sutra of the Noble Self-Sound: 'The Tathāgata Amitābha also has parents.' The second is for those who abide on the ground, manifesting a body without parents, which is included in the other-enjoyment,

From the perspective of receiving teachings, it is said that the two Lesser Vehicles and women cannot obtain rebirth there. This is the second chapter, "The Nature of Ultimate Truth." Volume Ten. Teaching this one chapter can also be summarized into two meanings: explaining the name of the chapter and explaining the meaning of the sutra's words. Among them, the so-called "Chapter on the Nature of Ultimate Truth" is the most supreme name and the supreme meaning within the truth. There are also two kinds of truth, namely conventional truth and ultimate truth. Among them, the so-called "conventional" refers to the meaning of obscuring what is not obvious and roughly appearing. For example, pots, blankets, etc., obscure the ultimate truth, making it unclear, and roughly show things, so it is called conventional. The so-called "ultimate" is that the supreme is the supreme wisdom. Meaning is the meaning of the object, that is, the meaning of suchness. Because it is the meaning of the object of supreme wisdom, it is called ultimate, which is explained from the perspective of the owner among the six explanations. Or, the so-called "meaning" is the meaning of benefit, such as the fruit of Nirvana. This is called the meaning of supreme benefit as ultimate, which is explained from the perspective of completely holding the karma among the six explanations. Or, the noble path accomplishes meaning through the supreme, so it is called ultimate, which is explained from the perspective of having substance. Here, temporarily from the perspective of the first meaning, it is said that there are two meanings to the truth. As it is said in the "Yogacarabhumi-sastra": "What is the meaning of truth? The answer is that the meaning of the nature that does not contradict the teachings that have been spoken, and the meaning of attaining complete purity through cultivating it, is the meaning of truth." Among them, the so-called "nature" is the nature of self. Or it is the nature of the realm, because the five, such as unspeakable, are the nature of suchness's own nature. Or, because one suchness has five aspects of nature such as unspeakable. Because this chapter shows the five meanings of the nature of ultimate truth, it is ultimate.
