It is like that. The 'Treatise on Explanation' and the 'Ornament of the Sutras' also explain that it is in accordance with what comes from the Yogachara Bhumi. Furthermore, the 'Ornament of the Sutras' also says that these sixteen people are all nominally designated from their meanings, because all Bodhisattvas possess these names. If someone knows that someone possesses such names, they should recognize that they are a Bodhisattva. Among them, Bodhisattva and Mahasattva are the first two names from the general names, and the explanation of the meaning is as previously stated. Among these sixteen names, the first is Bodhisattva, the second is Great Bodhisattva, the third is possessing wisdom, the fourth is the best of clarity, the fifth is the son of the Victorious One, the sixth is the basis of the Victorious One, the seventh is the sprout of the Victorious One, the eighth is causing victory, the ninth is possessing skill, the tenth is the best of the Noble Ones, the eleventh is the leader, the twelfth is great fame, the thirteenth is possessing compassion, the fourteenth is due to great merit, the fifteenth is independence, and the sixteenth is possessing Dharma. Among them, the names with specific distinctions will be extensively explained below. The term 'etc.' includes the other immeasurable Bodhisattvas. The term 'being the chief' means that these ten Bodhisattvas are called 'being the chief' because they are the chief among the assembled retinue. As it is said in the commentary on the 'Buddha Bhumi Sutra': 'Because the Bodhisattvas are extremely assembled and are the most excellent in this retinue, they are called being the chief.' It is like this explanation. Showing the necessity of mentioning these ten also has three meanings. First, because the first Bodhisattva explains the profound meaning; second, because the next three Bodhisattvas inquired about the nature of the single ultimate truth; and third, because the last six Bodhisattvas each inquired about the different meanings of each chapter, only ten were mentioned. Furthermore, only ten were mentioned for the sake of brevity. Therefore, in the commentary on the 'Buddha Bhumi Sutra', it says: 'In this sutra, the abbreviated'

Therefore, only one name is mentioned. The other retinues are only mentioned in numbers. This is because the correct compilers thought it should be abbreviated. Furthermore, in the commentary on the Prajñāpāramitā Sutra, it says: If there are so many Bodhisattvas, why not mention more? The answer is: Bodhisattvas are immeasurable and cannot be fully expressed. If all were mentioned, the words and letters would be difficult to distinguish. Furthermore, there are only two types of Bodhisattvas: householders and renunciants, for this place and other aspects. Householders are like Samantabhadra, renunciants are like Mañjuśrī, those of this place are like Maitreya, and those of other aspects are like Avalokiteśvara. By mentioning these two, it should be understood that all others are included. This is also the same. Among them, distinguishing by questions and answers is called: From the Sutra of Definitive Explanation of the Holy Word, it says that Maitreya and others are Bodhisattvas who are only one lifetime away from Buddhahood. So, what is the difference between being one lifetime away and the final body? The answer is: The Sarvāstivāda school's treatises consider that the bodies of Maitreya and others residing in Tuṣita Heaven are one lifetime away, because they take one more lifetime before manifesting perfect enlightenment. Being born among humans, before manifesting perfect enlightenment, is called the final lifetime, because it is the final stage within one lifetime. Here, combined with the treatises of the Mahāyāna school, the individual explanations differ. Some say that whoever obtains a human body is one lifetime away, as stated in the Sutra of Definitive Explanation: Maitreya and others are one lifetime away. Some say that whoever obtains a divine body is one lifetime away, as stated in the Holy Prajñāpāramitā Sutra: Being one lifetime away is the god of Tuṣita Heaven.

It is like saying "Bodhisattva." Some say that obtaining a human body is the last body, and the last birth from the Yogacara ground is like this: Bodhisattvas attain complete enlightenment in this very life, as it is taught. Some say that the body of a deva is the last body, as it is said in the commentary on the Buddha-bhumi Sutra: "In the Tushita heaven, the Bodhisattva of the last body benefits sentient beings." Some say that the human body is the one and only birth and the last body, as it is said in the commentary on the Prajnaparamita Sutra: "The so-called 'bound by one birth' is either known from the signs, as the sage Asita examined the signs of the prince and knew that he would attain complete enlightenment in this life, and after drinking milk-rice, he knew that he would become a Buddha at that time, and the Bodhisattva of the last body experiences the ripening of non-virtuous deeds by the power of skillful means, and shows that the harm of Mara appears first." Some say that the body of a deva is the one and only birth and the last body, as it is said in the teachings on the stages of enlightenment: "The Bodhisattva bound by one birth enters the Tushita heaven, and the Bodhisattva of the last body dwells in the Tushita heaven." Therefore, saying that the human body is the one and only birth and the last body is because one takes one birth among humans now, and because it is the last among all bodies. Furthermore, saying that the body of a deva is the one and only birth and the last body is because one attains complete enlightenment after taking one deva birth, and because that deva body is the last among births, because the human birth is included in the Buddha body. Therefore, one does not say the one and only birth and the last birth, because all that they teach relies on one meaning each, so there is no contradiction between them. In the true sense, the body of a deva is called the one and only birth, and the human body is called the last body. Yoga
