It is said that there are great paths, great practices, and great benefits for sentient beings. In this regard, the explanation of the state of coming is as follows, according to the commentary on the *Buddhabhūmi-sūtra*: "Gathering from various Buddha-fields" means that they gather in one place from various Buddha-fields in the ten directions to listen to the Dharma. Although there are also bodhisattvas who gather from the Sahā world, the true compilers show that the bodhisattvas who come from other directions gather together in order to counteract those who do not go to listen to the Dharma due to laziness and pride. Although those bodhisattvas come from those directions to seek the Dharma for themselves, they are not unaware of others' feelings. They all possess great power, and those who possess great power also come from extremely distant lands. How much more so should others not approach them? The reason why the assembly of listeners who had previously listened was not shown to have gathered from other places is because they gathered in this very place. Here, it is said that they gathered together from other directions. Therefore, it should be understood that there are also bodhisattvas in this very place, but they are not mentioned due to brevity. Everything abides in the Mahāyāna, etc., which shows the second part, which is the exposition of the qualities of the bodhisattvas. As it says in the commentary on the *Buddhabhūmi-sūtra*: Why are the qualities of the bodhisattvas praised? It is in order to abandon the disrespect and pride of sentient beings. Some say that the Śrāvaka assembly has been practicing celibacy for a long time, so the bodhisattvas should respect and prostrate to them. Furthermore, it is also to generate great joy in sentient beings. If even bodhisattvas possess such qualities, what need is there to mention the Tathāgata? The ten qualities mentioned in the sūtra are explained by Ācārya Near Light in four ways: by combining them with the ten great attributes, the ten bhūmis, the ten pāramitās, and the ten aspirations.

Oh! This is taught in conjunction with the ten great ones, and the ten words of the sutra itself are divided into ten meanings. Among them, "all abide in the Mahayana" indicates the praise of great diligence. The commentary by Master Near Light states: "By the power of diligence, one abides in the Mahayana, leads sentient beings out of samsara, and directs oneself towards the unsurpassed Bodhi." Therefore, the so-called "Mahayana" refers to the complete maturation of sentient beings and the complete seeking of Bodhi. Some say that the suchness of the nature of Dharma is the Mahayana. Here, the commentary on the Noble Vajra Cutter Sutra states: "The so-called vast mind, etc.," this indicates abiding in the Mahayana. The so-called "traveling the Dharma of the Mahayana" refers to the second praise of the great cause. The commentary by Master Near Light states: "Gradually traveling through the ten bhumis, etc., listening, thinking, meditating, etc." Among them, the word "etc." in "ten bhumis, etc." includes equal enlightenment and extremely excellent manifestation of Buddhahood. This itself is also the Mahayana and the place to be traveled. The so-called "listening, thinking, meditating, etc." refers to the three kinds of mundane wisdom. The so-called "etc." includes the uncontaminated wisdom of meditation. This shows that the three kinds of wisdom arise sequentially in the realm of the ten bhumis and are generated by the Buddha, therefore it is called the great cause. Alternatively, the suchness of the nature of the Mahayana Dharma, the Bodhisattvas of the ten bhumis, with the three kinds of wisdom and the Dharma corresponding to them, gradually incorporate the state of samadhi of suchness into their minds, thereby generating the state of Buddhahood, therefore it is called the great cause. The so-called "equal mind towards all sentient beings" refers to the third praise of the great object. The commentary by Master Near Light states: "Because one obtains equality between oneself and others towards all sentient beings, one equally unites with love, etc."

Thus it is said. This quality is characterized by love and so on, because all sentient beings are the object to be acted upon, it is called the great object. The previous quality is characterized by wisdom, and is the object of Suchness. But this quality is characterized by love and so on, sentient beings become the object. This is what is stated in the commentary on the 'Vajra Cutter Perfection of Wisdom Sutra,' that it is called equal union for the sake of practicing the great compassion of one nature. By saying "discrimination and non-discrimination of discrimination, free from various discriminations," the fourth great time is shown. In the 'Near Light Commentary' it says: In all times, it enters equally like a single instant, therefore, a kalpa is called discrimination. Because all discriminations have been abandoned for all kalpas and non-kalpas, and thus there is no discrimination for kalpas and non-kalpas. Therefore, in practicing for a long time, there is no weariness in the practice. In Indian language, 'kalpa' is called, and when translated, it is called 'discrimination.' Conditioned phenomena are contained by time and kalpas, and because the parts are different, it is called discrimination. Unconditioned phenomena are not contained by time and kalpas, because there is no difference in the parts of time and kalpas, it is called non-discrimination. These two are objects to be fully known. 'Various discriminations' refers to the discriminating mind, because the object of previous discrimination and non-discrimination is the object, it is called various discriminations. That is said like this: If the discriminating mind thinks, 'This is time and kalpa, this is not time and kalpa,' and observes the long time and kalpa, then the yogi will become weary in practice. Bodhisattvas and so on are like this, all discriminations have been abandoned for all kalpas and non-kalpas, because there is no discrimination for kalpas and non-kalpas. Therefore, in practicing for a long time, there is no weariness. In the three great countless kalpas and all long times, it also enters equally like a single instant.
