Because of hearing the Dharma taught by the Tathagata, what I have said here is neither more nor less, and there is no mistake. In order to show that it is certainly as it is said, it is said, "Thus have I heard." Secondly, the teacher, the Tripiṭaka Ear-ringing, explained the meaning in three ways: First, with regard to the Buddha, because there is no difference in the teachings of the Buddhas of the three times, it is said "Thus," and because saying it that way is the same, it is said "I heard." Second, with regard to the Dharma, because of the true nature of all Dharmas, it is said "Thus," and because the Suchness is explained as it is, it is said "I heard." Third, with regard to the Sangha, it is said by the noble Ānanda, because there is no difference from what the Buddha said, it is said "Thus," and because it is completely free from faults, it is said "I heard." Third, the teacher True Virtue believes that "Thus have I heard" is a definite meaning, and there are two kinds, namely words and meaning. Among them, words are to be spoken, which are the words spoken by the noble Ānanda, and the meaning is definite because the Buddha's words are spoken as they are, so it is said "Thus have I heard." Furthermore, for direct hearing it is said "Thus have I heard," and for indirect hearing it is said "Thus heard." Furthermore, in the memoranda of the various schools, for direct hearing it is said "I heard," and for hearing filled it is said "Thus heard." The treatises also explain it in three ways. First, in the commentary on the Prajñāpāramitā, it is said that the meaning of "Thus have I heard" is to make people believe, just as believing in the great ocean of the Buddha's Dharma can enter, and those who believe and follow say that things are like this, and those who do not believe say that things are not like that, and broadly speaking, it is like what appears in it. Second, the teacher Virtue
